Hillary Clinton to do California swing in April

Hillary Clinton is slated for a California trip packed with speaking engagements in April.

The former secretary of state and likely Democratic presidential contender is making stops in San Francisco, San Jose and San Diego in mid-April, as first noted by CNN.

She will keynote at the Marketing Nation Summit, a gathering for the marketing industry; at the women’s lecture series titled “Unique Lives and Experiences”; and at the Western Health Care Leadership Academy, a conference for medical practitioners.

In Foggy Bottom and now at her family’s foundation, Clinton has put special emphasis on the advancement of women and girls, a theme she often turns to in her speaking engagements.

Clinton did a swing through the deep-blue, donor-rich state last fall.

7. Please do a follow up on this story. It'll be interesting to see how CA views her. And what, if any,

of her goals for the office are.

We don't get much clarity on what she says she stands for, we generally only get set in stone judgements based on her current or past associations. Major media has been HATING Hillary 20+ YEARS.

Personally, Hillary rubbed me wrong way, but not as much as her supporters did. IDK what their goals are other than 'the first woman president.'

We haven't cleared up the horrible racist factor in American politics that exploded in 2008, much less the problems with sexism. I don't see her being elected as changing anything for women, either. She's her own person with her own views, but I'd like to think she would champion women and children's rights.

She was certainly savaged along with her husband during his entire term and demonized for trying to make mild reform healthcare in the USA by the right. Rush made his career bashing her and Tweety, Hannity, and many other mainstays in cable made their fortunes of off Bill. It was an outrageous time.

She appears to be a fighter, which some want, but I want intellect, self-restraint and deep level of commitment as we have had with Obama. I don't think anyone save Warren or Sanders is in his league.

Either it's the climate at DU in the last years or perhaps always, that I have not heard one good thing said about her or Bill, either. I'm a latecomer to DU but not to political discussion and being active.

RIght now, we still have 2014 to win or lose, and I'll be more interested in her case for office if she runs. but not until 2016. I hope to see a wide open discussion and not just mud slinging at the Democratic candidates here in 2016 as the primary starts.

She's not Warren or Sanders as some want, but they won't get them. So what does she have to offer?

I don't want to make this thread go into flame bait, but if anyone wants to send me a PM with serious ideas about what policies she has to solve national problems, I'd welcome them.

She won the 2008 primary and the Clintons are well received whenever they come.

14. Thanks for the state view, I was unaware of that factoid. It was bitter where I live but Obama won.

If CA goes for her, and I think they have set some good examples of governance there, they may know her well. I really don't know her, just what's said about her from the RW and from those don't like her at DU.

I saw no discussion of her platform in 2008 nor how it deviates from PBO's at this time. I want an continuation of protecting the rights of all people and economic equality managed with intelligent leadership.

I'm willing to give her a chance if the word gets out. I did watch what PBO said in 2008 and his plans, which he carried out and know he faced the worse obstruction since Clinton, who was cornered right out of the gate and his agenda rolled back by the GOP.

And that if we don't win in 2014, if a Democrat is elected in 2016, it will be almost impossible to do anything. We owe our hopes for betterment in 2016 to what we give a Democratic POTUS to work with in 2014. The stakes get higher every year.

Perhaps in 2016 we will get to know her better. I really don't want to deal in negative portrayls of her or anyone who runs against her. It's a waste of my energy and the RW will do plenty of that for us! Attacks don't lead to the necessary understanding of policy.

She spent a good portion of last year giving speeches in various states, she's in high demand. She'll also be speaking at the University of Miami and the University of Connecticut.
