"What did I do wrong for these people to think it was okay to lie to me?"

That was Chrisitie's summation of the real issue.

Not, "What did I do wrong for these people to think it was okay to attack a city in New Jersey to punish it for containing Democrats?"

It appears that he understands treating the state citizens like enemy combatants, but how dare anyone lie to him about it!!??

I am not surprised, but I am still horrified that this is (if media reaction is a gague) considered a successful defense.

The crucual point he has to convince people of is that he was lied to. So naturally that's where his focus is.

When Deep Throat finally came out, he was denounced by his co-conspirators...not for any felonious behavior or wrong-doing, but for ratting out his fellows. In short, they attacked him for putting his patriotic concerns for his country ahead of his personal loyalty to his fellow crooks, and to the prince of darkness, Richard Nixon.

Authoritarians tend to gravitate to feudalistic thought, rather than democratic.
