Boehner: Christie remains presidential contender

One can only hope...

WASHINGTON — House Speaker John Boehner says he believes Chris Christie remains a serious contender for the Republican 2016 presidential nomination, despite the traffic jam scandal engulfing the New Jersey governor.

Reporters asked Boehner about Christie's problems on Thursday, even as the governor was holding a news conference in Trenton, N.J.

The Ohio Republican quipped that he hadn't been fortunate enough to have seen Christie's news conference. He said little about the governor's situation.

Asked whether Christie remains a top 2016 GOP contender for the presidential nomination, Boehner said, "I think so. I think so."

every other candidate is either an insane tea bagger that will scare off voters, has ties to the Bush administration or Rand Paul. Given that prospect you can see why Christie is still a contender. The more the GOP voice machine hated Romney the more the people in power in the Republican party backed him. I imagine the same will happen to Christie. He's the wall street moneys man for the job and they do not want Rand Paul or Ted Cruz so it will get very, very ugly come 2015.

a "moderate" whose only claim to moderation is that he's moderately less conservative than everybody else who's running. Romney, McCain, Dole... this is something of a tradition in the party.

There is almost always a mad rush of conservatives who want to be president and have no chance of becoming president. They spend so much time trying to outflank one another that they split the conservative vote.

Disgrace is like a badge of honor on planet GOP. Being a top contender in that clown car isn't much of an achievement anyways.
