2. I'm trying to

give this as much attention as everyone gave the phony RW scandal mongering (Benghazi, IRS, ACAIranContraIraqGlitchesGate).

Hey, a real scandal deserves more coverage.

Fallout continues from Christie bridge scandal

5. Go for it. I've got plenty of popcorn.

I have no doubt that his presser today will be disastrous and will leave questions unanswered. I suspect that something will come out after it to stir up the flames.

6. He already tried the blame the media strategy...it's too late for that...

Betcha he'll blame his staff, after he works deals with them for pay-offs down the line for their silence...they'll go quietly, lay low for a while, and will quietly get some cushy jobs elsewhere...shhh....vewy, vewy quietly...

9. Seems like I left the "not" out of my post.

But you are right. Politicians, in general, tend to be arrogant to the point of self-destruction, and today's Republicans are at the far fringe on that. "Mistakes were made" instead of "I made a big mistake".

And the irony is that if the man could simply get those 5 words past his lips, this would all blow over quickly. It is never the act itself. It is always the cover-up.

10. You probably right about him if he could apologize. One other point is

that there are a lot of Repubs who picture themselves as the next President and don't want Christie around raining on their parades. Couple that with the Repubs who can't forgive him for shaking Obama's hand and you end up with a portion of the GOP that is happy to see him in trouble. They won't want this scandal to go away quickly.

12. He can't be at fault ... because he used the levers of government

in the exact manner in which the GOP thinks they should be used.

But that's an ugly truth that can not be stated.

I think he'll say he's asked his top aid connected to this to resign, perhaps the port authority guy too. They will slide out of the lime light and probably get some side help from some other part of the GOP to keep them quiet (unless they get criminal charges).

Christie will then try to use this situation to show that he's "no nonsense" and acts swiftly when he becomes aware of wrong doing by subordinates.

He'll ask that people not assume that his rough personal style be confused as endorsing such behavior.

Imagine a mob boss on the stand denying that they are the mob boss. "I'm not pretty. I'm rough around the edges, but don't mistake that for wrong doing. I'm helping people ... like I did after Sandy."

I'd be very surprised if he doesn't lean on his no nonsense Sandy response reputation.

See, even a mob boss sometimes does something good for the community.

Something like this is what I expect.

11. Christie has been targeted

Doesn't matter whom he blames. He will follow his lawyers' advice. It won't be his fault.

Christie has been successfully targeted by his political enemies. He did wrong, yes, but what politician doesn't these days?

I don't doubt for a second there's political juice behind this so-called Bridge-ghazi scandal. This is just bad TV. Glad to finally put the tired old scandal-of-the-month "-gate" appellation in mothballs though.

15. I expect him to reference his no nonsense Sandy response.

His rough style WORKED in that situation.

So you should NOT assume that that rough style is what led to THIS situation.

Some subordinates did something wrong. They're fired.

See, I'm no nonsense. I act swiftly.

I know the media will try to make more out of this than necessary ... manufacture a scandal ... its what they do.

I'm tough and I can handle it.

That's why the good people of NJ elected me in the first place.

(I'll be very surprised if this is not the basic argument he makes)

23. "Rough Style" Yeah.

That's one of his moves for sure. Though there may be a little too much heat on him at this point to pull that off.

The "Rough Style" technique is a form of misdirection intended to quickly squelch critical inquiry. Bombast is just about all that's needed nowadays in the media to push back against the truth - unless your political enemies want to make sure you don't make it to the 2016 primaries. In that case, the dwarves will be working overtime in the mines.

20. I don't think he will blame anyone other than his staff. He will appear humble, contrite and

apologetic and promise with the most sincere look to get to the bottom of it and make sure that something like that never happens again.

I'm going with "his staff" and he certainly won't accept any blame for hiring them.
