by tonight it's gonna be in single digits...and let's not overlook the fact that my outside thermometer Saturday morning said 0 degrees. I'm SO CONFUSED!
It's true: I've only been around 60+ years so I have no perspective...this isn't weird or anything...it's just that we keep having once-in-a-thousand-year storms, temperature swings of 50 degrees every 24 hours, record precipitation in the Summer months, ice storms where there were never ice storms, chronic coastal flooding unlike any recorded...and this is Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore...we are, or at least WERE known for some reasonable consistency in our weather. I've lived here all my life and the way storms would approach the area was: you would see a dimple of relief in the weather map which vaguely coincidentally covered the whole original 215 area code and much of south Jersey. Snowfall and rainfall was generally more moderate, and if, say Harrisburg got 10 inches of snow, we'd get 3 or four tops and if a storm came up the coast, we were somewhat sheltered and get maybe 2/3 of what northern Jersey and Long Island would get. Not now...
Gee...it almost makes you think that perhaps something is different?

Weird weather that's for sure.
Except San Diego won't be heading for single digits this morning.

(37,449 posts)in less that 24 hrs it will be 50 degrees colder. The snow is retreating, just in time for the next batch. We have been swinging wildly from the low of -10 to this. I'm sure glad I don't have to go out and work in it any more, 31 yrs was enough.

(26,250 posts)Started the massive ice storm, just before Christmas, that took out power to about 40% of the state's residents. Before we can really fully recover, we get hit by over 16 inches of snow and sub-arctic wind chills. Now they are talking about the potential for another "icy" situation for Friday!?!?!

(31,781 posts)In Basking Ridge NJ this morning - that I couldn't see anything in the parking garage. And yesterday it was warmer in Rochester NY (where my family lives) than it was in NJ. That's odd. Almost never the case.

29 and clear in Houston this morning. We are within an hour of the coast - south of the city. I'm not going to complain given what I'm seeing in other areas of the country.
