Doctors continue to be cautiously optimistic as he is still very sick, sedated, intubated and in the ICU. We are thankful for baby steps of improvement. Thank you for your outpouring of love and support. Love, Laurie

If he's doing really well, they can start weaning him from the ventilator as early as tomorrow. Since he's older, it might take a few days before he's ready to use those new lungs on his own.

An online friend got her new lungs about 2 years ago and is doing very well. I couldn't believe how fast she was extubated but she was in her early thirties and that makes a difference.
