Nancy Pelosi Turns the Tables on Darrell Issa and He Could Be In Big Trouble
By: Sarah Jones
Thursday, December, 19th, 2013
Nancy Pelosi has had enough of Darrell Collateral Damage Issa.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is calling for a high level security briefing on the operations of Darrell Issa (R-CA), the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, in which he would have to be forthcoming about what information he has released and to whom after he got his hands on sensitive documents surrounding HealthCare.Gov. It would then be up to the Department of Justice to make a determination.
Ed Schultz and his panel discussed Pelosi turning the tables on Issa last night. Watch MSNBCs The Ed Show segment on Rep. Darrell Issa could face serious consequences after releasing classified information to the public at link~
Panelist Karen Finney explained that with such briefing, they would learn what Issa released and if anything leaks out, they can determine what should have been out there and what should not have been out there.
Issa finally got his hands on sensitive information about HealthCare.Gov that were it to be leaked, panelist E.J. Dionne pointed out, would make the site vulnerable to a cyber attack and would endanger national security. The release of the information could jeopardize the security of websites across the government, according to cyber security experts from across the administration IT departments.
Its also the kind of information that someone who had it out for HealthCare.Gov could really use, if they had no scruples and maybe had a penchant for criminal activity. Darrell Issa just so happens to qualify.
The Democrats are concerned.

(12,336 posts)Then, how could we even track it back to him once it is leaked and damage done? Issa is not working for the people but is a soldier for a political party.

(9,748 posts)Nobody asked that Issa be investigated by the DoJ. They asked that Issa be briefed on the security risks.
And Pelosi was a recipient of the request, not the author.

Sebelius didn`t want to comply because she was concerned
that Issa`s office had leaked cherry picked information on
Benghazi and Fast & Furious, for political purposes, and that
leaking info about HealthCare.gov could damage national security.
Issa has proven he`s a piece of $h1t

(15,438 posts)Issa needs to be restrained and contained. He's getting out of hand.
He's using his powerful position solely to sabotage the president any which way he can find, and for attacks on the Democratic Party to make it appear as if they are corrupt. He's abused his position and hopefully, when the Dems run against him in 2014, they'll use what they know about him to educate his constituents so they'll see what a corrupt person they have as their U.S. Rep. and finally vote for a Democrat.

(11,175 posts)In that district, McCain beat Obama, 53.0% to 45.1%. Romney beat Obama, 52.4% to 45.7%. That says that it's definitely a Republican-leaning district but the gap isn't so great as to put it out of reach.
(data from the Wikipedia article about the district)
BlueCaliDem
(15,438 posts)and his unpatriotic acts that are jeopardizing the safety of this country, the Dem who runs against him in 2014 better use it over and over and over and over again. Shame those R's who continue to vote for this P.O.S. until even their low threshold of morals and ethics feel the sting and they either stay home or vote Dem.
It's easy to vote for an R who isn't as widely known to be corrupt. To the right-wing, gossip and hearsay is only valid criticism against Democrats, not their own. But it'll be much harder for them to ignore how corrupt he is when his face is plastered in ads that show his backhanded and backstabbing dealings as proof of just how corrupt he really is.
Serious charges that the DoJ can launch against him will ultimately make him look shady, perhaps even enough for those staunch Republican voters with low, low ethics, to sit out in the next election. Of course, we need to ensure that every Progressive, Democrat, and Liberal in his district gets out and vote at the same time.

(9,461 posts)picked by the Republican party for this job so they could have him do exactly what he'd doing. He hasn't taken it upon himself to do these things, he's just doing his part in the party. I think they have Issa because he already is known for being scuzzy and people still voted for him. He's the most mafia like of the Republican party, he's the guy to be doing this.

(430 posts)There are so, so many Republicans in Congress that are nasty individuals, just bereft of decency. Darrell "the richest auto thief" Issa is crazed lying prick that creates witch hunts. Interrogation and investigation upon him is poetic justice.
He wins election after election. What sort of people make up his electorate? With him Cantor, Bachmann, Gohmert, Stockman, Hartzler....it is a problem with the soul of the nation.

The coastal strip just happened in 2012 with redrawn district & includes a serious influx of higher info voters.
Issa is eminently defeatable in his district despite the fact that San Diego County suffers from rightwing MSM monopoly/info suppression. There was a terrific piece last week in the LA Times on Issa's pernicious uselessness, but alas, it'll never appear in mainstream SD press.
Issa is simply an unaffordable, useless rightwing fetishist at this point, a congressman who has never benefited his own district anyway. His major infrastructure "accomplishment" here was to push a bill through Congress that rerouted the freeway into his own medical building, self-enriching at millions in taxpayer expense.
Issa also colluded/lead in recalling Enron target Grey Davis, planning to become Gov himself. Instead the rabble Issa riled up voted in Arnold...that fiasco left Ca in economic rubble.
Currently Issa's chaired witch hunts only serve his and his party's own delusions and paranoia. What a disgraceful waste of taxpayer dollars and congressional authority and time.
The charges of car theft and arson happened before Issa was ever elected to Congress and SOL have long ago expired. But there's never been any reveal of Issa's explosion of personal wealth during his time in Congress, no scrutiny given to his self-enriching freeway bill nor any monetary enumeration of how much Issa's witchhunts have wasted taxpayer money and even, as in Benghazeee(!), compromised our national security.
Issa's constituency is growing in better informed voters. That's a good thing, and if enough showed up at the polls Issa would have a much tighter race. Additionally I wager those who call themselves fiscally conservative are potential converts once they understand how much Issa's antics cost taxpayers...Issa is simply unaffordable.

(67,782 posts)...but didn't he drop out even before the recall campaign started?
Maybe he saw he could line his pockets better as a congressman than a governor.

(2,574 posts)Up to that moment, Issa was spearheading the recall of Davis and had made clear his intention to takeover as governor. Issa was devastated by Arnold's surprise Tonight Show announcement and the hijack of the recall campaign Issa had instigated and heavily funded. He knew he couldn't win the Repugs against Arnold. Issa quickly held a self-pitying, tearful press conference publicly taking himself out of the running. It's a moment fondly remembered by Ca Democrats, who've always perceived Issa as simply a narcissistic self-enricher. I think you can pull the press conference clip up on you tube

The government should be just as concerned with what Issa has pre-emptively leaked to his favorite press outlets in return for favorable publicity, even before his committee hearings were called to order, as they are with Snowden.

It should have happened a long time ago. Darryl Issa is nothing better than a petty crook who has used his political positions for personal gain, enrichment and political power. Now it's time for the law to find out just how deep he's in the muck expose him.

(10,520 posts)The administration asked Issa for a personal briefing in order to explain the security risks, but he declined to meet with them. . . .
Democrats have been calling for a classified meeting with administration cyber security officials to discuss the proper handling of documents, including writing a letter requesting an immediate classified briefing about the extremely significant risks of disclosing sensitive contractor documents relating to the Healthcare.gov website.
Issa subpoenaed sensitive documents from the MITRE Corporation, the contractors who worked on the security of the ObamaCare federal exchange. He had already been given unredacted access to the information, but then he wanted a set of documents for himself. . . .
{Re- Benghazi,} Congressman Issa allegedly inadvertently leaked sensitive information . . . . For example:House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) has placed several Libyans lives at risk in the course of investigating the alleged security issues regarding the deaths of four Americans in Libya on September 11, 2012.
Issa uploaded scores of sensitive material and didnt redact names of Libyan civilians or local leaders, exposing them to physical danger from the very people the Obama administration is investigating regarding the September 11, 2012 attacks.
