by The Troubadour
This is an instance in which I know I'm going to fail to encapsulating the depth of offensiveness and depravity contained in the below statement made today by Santorum during an appearance in Cape Girardeau.
Standing in a hangar at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport, this is what Santorum said (emphasis mine):
I don't care that a lighter-than-expected crowd of only 100 was on hand to hear those words. And I don't care that he was kind with the crowd after speaking, mingling and taking pictures with everyone afterward. In fact, I don't care what else he may have said during the campaign stop what lies he may have told, how he likely slandered Obama with some nonsensical factoid gone awry.
All I care about is this:
Using the mealy-mouthed "some people see," Rick Santorum compared a visit to Rush Limbaugh's hometown as akin to visiting Mecca.

Updated with video: Rush's 53 Smears Against Sandra Fluke
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002382940
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) told TPM on Tuesday that she was "stunned" by Rush Limbaugh's smear of Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke.
"There was the incendiary comments made by Rush Limbaugh that I think are just adding to this sense that women's health rights are being attacked," Murkowski said.
"The comments made by Limbaugh, I was just stunned," she added. "In the end, I'm a little bit disappointed that there hasn't been greater condemnation of his words by people in leadership positions."
Including Republicans? "Everybody," she responded. "What he said was just wrong. Just wrong."

It always bothers me why my Catholic friends don't know Latin. I said the mass in Latin when I was a little alter boy.
Nonsense Loudmxr, your writing is fine by me!

(42,550 posts)Because elected Republicans and party leaders pay obeisance to Limbaugh, no matter what he says or does. Even this last round of hatefulness elicted only a handful of genuine condemnations and several half-hearted condemnations.

Mecca?????? Especially with the firestorm around Rush and what is going on in Afghanistan right now. Tell me this is a joke.

(36,827 posts)I stopped there for fuel because they have a little greasy spoon restaurant on the field and the fuel is cheap. The airport is actually south of town a few miles. More than likely Sanctimonious just stopped at the airport and didn't go into town. It must have made those 100 people feel good to know that he actually had a staff member wiki their town to find out Limpballs was from there. I'm sure they were too daft to realize he was just stopping for cheap fuel and decided to use the 20 minutes or so to pander to the locals while the pump jockeys were filling up his jet. I doubt if he even took the extra time to go into "Mecca".

(36,827 posts)It's pretty difficult to be a serious presidential contender without one. I'm sure it's a charter. Even gubernatorial campaigns in big states like California, Texas, and Florida are going to have charter aircraft. It's pretty hard to make all the events they do without one.
DefenseLawyer
(11,101 posts)Yes he's had more success than he ever imagined, but he has very little in terms of a ground game anywhere. I would maintain that he doesn't have a "campaign plane" the way Romney does, although he's probably chartering some flights. Surely there is a Santorum campaign troll around here that can set the record straight!
Major Nikon
(36,827 posts)As far as I know, they all charter their campaign planes. That keeps the money straight. The difference is Romney probably has a G-V and Santorum probably has a Citation X or smaller.
