How much would Keystone pipeline help US consumers?

Often lost in the political wrangling over the controversial Keystone XL pipeline – on hold after President Obama rejected TransCanada’s initial construction proposal – are some key findings that run counter to the rosy picture of abundant supply and lower prices so often painted by US politicians.

Canadian companies backing the Keystone XL – touted as enhancing US energy security with a big new surge of imported Canadian oil – actually expect it to supply more lucrative Gulf Coast export markets as well as raise Midwest oil prices by reducing “oversupply” in that region.

These little-publicized findings are contained in the studies and testimony of experts working for TransCanada, the company that wants to build the pipeline from Alberta’s tar sands across America’s heartland to Gulf Coast refineries.

Some of these concerns popped up, albeit briefly, in US congressional testimony last year on the pipeline project, and have given rise to a recent proposal to bar the sale of Keystone oil overseas.

Canada will sell their oil. Right now we buy much of it. The pipeline just opens the sale of that oil to the global market.

On top of that we will be stuck with the cleanup bill for damages to the pipeline that are inevitable.

Even if America taxed the entire project at 100%, and took EVERY SINGLE PENNY IT EARNED, we still wouldn't be able to afford to clean up after it.

Or pay people's medical bills.

Or give them equivalent land, transportation, and employment.

Boner and Cantor and friends stand to make millions on their stock gifts last Xmas(I mean campaign donations)from the XL consortium. Hey folks,DLCers are screwing us royally, and we know whom they are. It's all about the money and to hell with the rest of us. Read what the Blue Dogs are writing and saying, the corporate wing of our party doesn't give a rats ass about the progressives. Always watch what Tom Daschle and Dick Gephart are up to,these two seem to be the main go to guys. For the goof-ball party, watch Norm(the lawsuit king)Coleman and Vin Weber, these four pretty much telegraph what's going to happen.
This whole pipeline thing was a done deal several years ago, only thing, the info leaked out and people finally started to wake up. The Sleeping Giant has been reawakened.
