But Springsteens We Take Care of Our Ownwhich seems custom-made for a political campaign commercialinterestingly enough resonates with those on the right, whether Bruce realizes it or not:
If there is one theme that cries out, its that in this American community of ours, we ultimately rely on each other and, as he admits, sometimes the cavalry cannot <WON'T> come to save us. Conservatives would agree. Instead of seeking a savior in government, conservatives value self-determination, free enterprise, limited government, and individual freedomall of which suffer when an almighty state crowds out our freedoms.
Liberals, though, first look to their cavalrythe federal governmentto come to the rescue when Americans are in need rather than finding solutions in civil society among local communities, houses of worship, schools, volunteer organizations, and neighborhoods.
From Chicago to New Orleans
From the muscle to the bone
From the shotgun shack to the Superdome
We yelled help but the cavalry stayed home
There aint no-one hearing the bugle blown
We take care of our own
We take care of our own
Wherever this flags flown
We take care of our own

Yeah right! They even tried to put Thunder Road in a conservative context.
"Death to my hometown" (also an ode to OWS)
So listen up, my sonny boy, be ready when they come
For they'll be returning sure as the rising sun
Now get yourself a song to sing and sing it 'til you're done
Yeah, sing it hard and sing it well
Send the robber barons straight to hell
The greedy thieves who came around
And ate the flesh of everything they found
Whose crimes have gone unpunished now
Who walk the streets as free men now
"Jack of All Trades" is one of the saddest songs I think I've ever heard filled with what could again interpreted as rugged individualism as opposed to desperation. He wraps up anger, mourning and hope into one song. Amazing.
Here we stood the drought, now well stand the flood
Theres a new world coming, I can see the light
Im a Jack of all trades, well be alright
So you use what youve got, and you learn to make do
You take the old, you make it new
If I had me a gun, Id find the bastards and shoot em on sight
Im a Jack of all trades, well be alright
Im a Jack of all trades, well be alright
I'm not selling it, but if you get satisfaction from hearing the sentiments and pain here and among the people we care about put to music. I think you can find it on youtube.
Has anyone else listened?

(13,390 posts)6. I almost hope they try it this year
just so they can look stupid when the boss tells them to stop. I think I would enjoy seeing him explain more thoroughly who is taking care of their own.
I actually did have an argument with some fool who claimed Born In The USA was a conservative song.

Really captures a sense of outright rage that some people feel right now.
