The only allowable political position is Right Wing Lite.

Because that's the only position that's going to win.

Is that what you think?

11. Well I'm from Scotland. There's irony for you, perhaps.

I'm not sure if you are countering my position, and I'm not sure what position you think I was holding that you were countering if that's the case?

6. Not as far as I'm concerned

Who's doing the allowing and why are they making the decisions. That's what the OWS is asking about.

8. I'm afraid that's the sad truth about American politics

In order to be politically acceptable for election you have to be right wing lite.

A for the OP

9. That is apparently over nowadays we get right wing, extreme right wing, reactionary,

radical regressives, and reactionary radical regressives.

10. It all depends on your perspective

Honestly, since so many on DU are firmly anchored on the left, it influences their perspective of the rest of the spectrum. It's easy to call everything to the right of oneself 'right wing,' but there's a lot of daylight between DU and the center. I think that's the problem here.

12. Many thanks for a thoughtful response.

In fact it's a little difficult to make use of the so-called "spectrum" at all nowadays.
