"House Republicans Are Now Turning On Ted Cruz"

House Republicans Are Now Turning On Ted Cruz

by Kate Nocera and John Stanton at BuzzFeed

http://www.buzzfeed.com/katenocera/house-republicans-are-now-turning-on-ted-cruz

"SNIP.............................

“Well, this has been a productive exercise hasn’t it?” snarked another Republican congressman. “We can blame Ted Cruz, and yeah, he convinced a lot of people that they were somehow not really conservatives if we didn’t take this route, and that’s ridiculous. But at the end of day, we played along. So shame on us.”

Cruz still holds considerable sway among House conservatives, who rallied around his cause.

But even within the ranks of the conference’s most ideologically pure, there’s frustration with the path Cruz led them down.

“You can’t just pull the pin on the grenade, roll it in the tent and walk away,” one conservative Republican said. “There’s real frustration” within the House Republican conference, the lawmaker added.

.............................SNIP"

44. How can they think of running Cruz after all that Birther stink

The Birthers have spent almost 6 years trying to convince us that Obama was born in Kenya and there for not qualified to be president even if his mother was an American-born Citizen. Even after Obama has showed us all the evidence to prove his birth was in Hawaii the birthers still think Obama was born in Kenya.

Now we have Cruz who has even shown his birth certificate that he was born in Canada. Just like Obama his mother was an American Citizen and also like Obama, Cruz's father was citizen of another country.

Personally to me the mother with the American birth certificate is enough for me to make both of them constitutionally qualified to run for President. But I'm sorry, I'm not giving Cruz a free pass on his birth certificate after the bullshit of what was done to Obama. If the Birthers say a person born in a foreign country even with one parent an American Citizen is NOT qualitifed to be president then Cruz is not qualified.

They can't change their message simply because one of their own crazies wants to be president!

If Obama had actually been born in Kenya, then he couldn't be president, yet Cruz was definitely born in Canada, and birthers can't wait to send him to the White House.

67. Legally he probably can because his mother was an American citizen

The definition of what a "natural born citizen" is has not been tested in court yet, the birthers tried to test it with Obama but because he was born in Hawaii there was nothing to test and the courts threw the case out. In Cruz's case I am sure the courts would hear the case because he was born in another country and there is no disputing this fact, in the end however I think the courts would probably rule in Cruz's favor because he was born an American citizen even if he was not born in the US. The birthers would sure look like hypocrites if they supported Cruz however after all the stink they made about Obama's birth certificate.

And Ted Cruz is no Ronald Raygun. Ronnie was actually a likable person if you ignored what he was saying. Cruz is a thoroughly disgusting, contemptible character.

Cruz is a dream come true. He is the perfect person to have in the process because he can get just enough votes to win the nomination and will never be anywhere close to winning the presidency, no matter how much money is behind him if the Dems don't run a serial killer or animal molester as their candidate.

61. Senate Conservatives Fund Shutdown Strategy Led to Record Fundraising

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/18/senate-conservatives-fund-shutdown_n_4125267.html

WASHINGTON -- The Senate Conservatives Fund posted record fundraising numbers in September as it backed the congressional campaign to defund Obamacare that ultimately forced a 16-day government shutdown.

In the month leading to the Oct. 1 shutdown, Senate Conservatives Fund raised more than $2.1 million, a record for the group in a non-election year and the second-highest monthly total it has ever reported. The majority of the fundraising, $1.9 million, came from small donors. snip

The Senate Conservatives Fund endorsed Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-Ky.) tea party challenger in the Republican primary, Matt Bevins, on Friday. McConnell helped pass a compromise to reopen the government and raise the debt limit that gave conservatives nothing in return.

"Mitch McConnell has the support of the entire Washington establishment and he will do anything to hold on to power," said Senate Conservatives Fund executive director Matt Hoskins in a statement. snip

I'm telling you, those windbags have pummeled people into tears before my eyes with their lying. Once when I stopped by to see a lady I knew who'd been nice to me but was having a hard time, I found her shaking and near a nervous breakdown. Turns out both her parents had to go to the nursing home, and she was totally convinced Barack Obama would order the plug pulled on them! Another person at her home that evening burst out with, "That Obama! He's the very devil!" I told her to "stop talking - NOW" even though I wish I could've just said shut your stupid trap. But there are rules for guests when you're not in your own home. I try to be polite so I can wade into people who aren't. Well, maybe that's not the highest motive but any port in a storm, I guess.

"I don’t think there’s any question [it’s worse]. I could have written this story from day one. If you follow the Cruz plan, you end up exactly where we are,” Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger told BuzzFeed. “I think it’s obvious that we had a really grown up plan on how to deal with this, we had some in our party who rejected that, and we had to go along with [the Cruz] plan.”

Republicans have it easy. Their political targets are stupid people. It is easy to con frightened, stupid people. Go "boo" and tell a lie. THey will fall for it over and over and over.

Just yesterday they had a group of teenagers from a Texas private school on a television news story. The gist of the story was how they came to Washington on a field trip and the town was closed. A disappointment? No. They got to meet ted cruz. The teenage girl being interviewed gushed at what an honor and joy it was to get to personally talk to him.

65. I'll Answer that one with a Quote,

"Look Claudius the Senate are a bunch of sheep, But among them are a few wolves who all believe they should be Emperor." -Herod Agrippa, From the screen Play I Claudius.

73. The party of "personal responsibility" never takes responsibility

for anything! It's always some other person's fault. Cry me a river, whiney GOPee.

62. I am reminded of the final scenes in "My Favorite Year"

when the soft-spoken writer says a rather funny and wonderfully appropriate line here:

Pertinent line at 1:16

69. Apparently they didn't grow up being forced to watch

the same horrible Saturday specials about peer pressure we all did.

Cruz still holds considerable sway among House conservatives, who rallied around his cause.

Of course he does. If they were able to learn from stuff that didn't work, they wouldn't be conservatives.

70. This is not accurate

Cruz is currently on a "victory" tour here in Texas. The right wing is consolidating, refining their message, and deciding on their next battle. Not only are they not defeated--they don't feel defeated. The right wing of the right wing has decided that it is only those damn weak willed RINOs that screwed up the whole thing.

What we have to hope for is that the money guys (the Kochs et al) are going to refuse to fund the true crazies. That is not in our control. Right now they still have plenty of money left.

Hate to be alarmist, but these folks are not rational. Cruz might be rational, but it is the psychopathic type of rationality. He will do anything to win and doesn't care what he does to the country in the process. I'm not sure we aren't witnessing the rise of an American Pol Pot.

He clearly thinks that he is right and that we should be in default right now. The money is pouring in from the 30% of America that is completely insane and doesn't understand that the consequences of continuing down this path are beyond bad.

I've never been more scared in my life.

74. Big money has already left them...Chamber of Commerce, Kochs, Wall Street

have publicly gone on record...no to the radicals. John McCain and the Peter King, leaders of the Old Guard of the party will win, however it will likely cost them in 2014 ... yeah Dems.

He will whip up the faithful for awhile, but increasingly the "adults" are taking over the conversation. And that's just what happened. He is not finished, but more and more he is a "king" only in his and his father's mind. That crazy video alone has alerted sane people.
