No help for Ranchers... Climate Change Deniers.. Cattle dying by the thousands... Everything is so dysfunctional in this country.. Thanks GOP..

1. Sounds like the cattle would have died even if there was no government shutdown (due to weather)


... it's just the ranchers are not getting their bailout money - they will probably get the money in the future though when the gov re-opens, right?

3. Yes, the shutdown had nothing to do with the cattle deaths...

the storm was horrible. It was an early blizzard and it was worse than any blizzard I have seen in my life in the midwest. Both of our porch roofs collapsed under the snow and every tree in our yard is severely damaged. All over town, there are huge piles of tree limbs and we basically have not started cleaning up yet.

A friend of mine drove across the state yesterday and said she couldn't believe the piles of dead cattle. The only thing the government would do is help with counting the dead and help with the cleanup. It is possible that, if there is a disaster declaration, the cattlemen would be able to get low interest federal loans. Whooppee. Been there, done that, went bankrupt. That would be great for the big agribusiness corps but won't do anything to help the very few family farmers left.
