No federal taxpayer or National Park Service funds were spent on the production of these videos. They were created through a donation from the Friends of Women’s Rights National Historical Park, a non-profit organization.
The videos are part of the park’s ongoing effort to share the story of the women’s rights movement and show that the fights for human and civil rights – including the freedom to worship – are struggles that continue to this day.
Women's Rights National Historical Park celebrates the suffrage movement that resulted in the right of American women to vote, 154 years after our nation asserted that "all men are created equal." These videos, which solely depict the views of the people being filmed, are just one way in which the park illustrates the continued quest for equality for all Americans.
While the National Park Service is best known for its stewardship of the large national parks, like Yosemite and Grand Canyon, we have also been tasked by Congress to care for places important to our nation’s history. From the Japanese American internment camp at Manzanar, to the Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail, to the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, to Women’s Rights in Seneca Falls, New York, our job is to preserve these places and tell their stories so that we never forget that the freedoms we enjoy as Americans come at a high cost.
