Ok, so I had a semi-rational internet discussion with Righties on the ACA and terrorism

These things are unrelated to those of us in the reality based world, but these guys work like this:

Muslims attacked us on 9-11. Barack Obama is a Muslim. The ACA is terrorism.

I do NOT think this is true, but this is where they are, and speaking the truth matters. They were even conflating Muslims with Mexicans, claiming that those Muslims are coming over our borders in the thousands and stealing our jobs. <<<-----this is wrong for so many reasons, and it was pretty easy to say so.

I linked to the actual law. (Hat tip DU) We *really* got to the point where they can admit that Obamacare is pretty effing cool, and that calling it Obamacare is probably going to bode well for the president, considering. That's not a complete turnover, but I'd call it progress.

So what's left is the terrorism.

Now I usually beg for "rude pundit" style 'eff the eff off you effing mother-effers' but since we're actually discussin' and learnin' and all, I'd love to see your thoughts on this post, because I want to be *considerate* for once with these folk:

(start quote)
Rightie: Here's a ? Why did those muslim terrorist pick America on 9/11 , why do we see those large protest on TV with all those Muslims burning American flags screaming death to America ? Why do they hate us ?
(end quote)

I want to ask him how long he would fight someone who showed up in his backyard and took his property's resources for their profit. The answer would be 'until they leave'. I really want to avoid "They hate us for our freedom" because it just isn't true. They hate us because we call our taking their resources 'freedom'.

Is that too combative? (I never thought I'd see the day) What should I add?

we have FOX.
If we met person to person without the baggage put in our brains by people who are manipulating us we would begin to understand each other.
We all want the same things for ourselves and our families.

yet it's worth it when someone sees the light.

But the question, "Why do they hate us" or "why did they pick us" signals movement toward understanding.

So it might be big.
