Al Shabab says one of the Kenya Mall Terrorists is from Maine

Reports from Twitter by the Islamic terrorist group al-Shabab indicate there were Americans involved in the attack on the Westgate Mall in Kenya on Sunday, including one reportedly from Maine.

The list, which was published on the German magazine Welt-Investigativteam website, provides the names and homes of 15 men supposedly involved in the attack, which killed at least 68 people.

Among those on the list: men from the cities of Kansas City, Tuscon, and Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as Illinois and Maine.

The Press Herald also quoted FBI spokesman Greg Comcowich in Boston as saying it is too early to validate information in the list or the involvement of any Mainer in the attack.

I hate it when horrible news is also fascinating, but this really is turning a decades-old rift in Islamist circles on its head: the question was for years "should middle eastern fighters concentrate on resisting local governments or Israel/US/USSR?"

If, on the other hand, American fighters are travelling to the horn of Africa to fight, well, that's something I don't think either side in that debate saw coming...
