I'm watching the President's NH speech, and I am seeing a reliance on FACTS versus RHETORIC...

...that's been his "winning edge" in recent days, I.M.H.O. No fluffy talk. ASSERTIVE talk based in facts, on taking action that stands the best chance of producing results.

What worked in 2008 isn't going to work on 2012. I'm not seeing President Obama frame his remarks in idealism or lofty talk. America may be "recovering" but in many ways...especially when it comes to the working class...America is still fucked, and I don't see the President trying to put lipstick on the pig. He's acknowledging the progress but he knows we're not home yet. Any other message would be political suicide, at least from where I stand. I approached three prospective clients yesterday and what they told me was about as discouraging as discouraging gets (one of them meeting with their accountants to see if it makes more sense to sell off their equipment in auction and shut down or stay in business and try to turn a profit after losing their three largest accounts).

I'm seeing a man who, with the aid of his administration, has done his homework.

Whether it's Romney or anyone else in the Republican spot, I don't see an "emotional battle" ahead, at least in terms of two way give-and-take.

He just gave New Hampshire credit for having a very sophisticated "bullshit detector"...

This will be interesting. I know there might be some here to use what I just said as an invitation to attack President Obama, and I can't do anything about it. I know what I'm seeing and hearing. This post is an "opinion piece"...my opinion, my observation. Like everything else I post on DU, agreement is nifty, but I don't need it, and I'm not seeking it.

and make up "facts." That stuff may work with their base, as they are so brainwashed about the alleged bias of any source other than their fantasyland echo chamber.

Or they go to these dumbass social issues that were resolved long ago. Anti-contraception is not a winning platform. [although it will bring out their crazy base, so GOTV]

Nor is Bain-style business experience, once the word starts getting out beyond the political junkies.

Media is going to do its damnedest to make sure what Obama says gets cut-up and taken out of context. And they will do their best to prop up whoever the Republican Nominee is an make him appear to be a credible opponent. Think Sharon Angle in 2010. She was nutty as a fruitcake, but hardly any media outlet acknowledged that.

And of course Rove, the Koch Brothers and their co-horts are going to ramp up the non stop lie ad machine.

Here's hoping every voter out there who isn't a wing nut has got a good bullshit detector installed. Polling I've seen indicates people are not that fond on Republicans these days.

GOTV
