(58,112 posts)But first and foremost more than just being "right wing" is that they're corporate media.
When it counts is when they're out, timing and perception are everything and in those regards they miss the boat.

Rolling Stone or Vice are better places to go.
Their latest cover isn't so tame, it's entitled "How Wall Street Won: The Myth of Financial Reform." The cover has the famous bronze bull wearing a party hat and sunglasses.

(58,112 posts)25-50 or more people only see the cover on the magazine racks, that's propaganda in itself.
The OP clearly shows the disparity as to how "news" is slanted by TIME between the U.S. market and that of the rest of the world.
TIME is clearly steering the American People and unfortunately not in the same direction as the world community.

(19,926 posts)I appreciate these threads that show the various Time covers. It's always interesting.
Edit: Also, note that the US one says "It's time to pay college athletes" rather than getting at the meat of the matter and not making sports such a business in college. If everybody's going to be making money off it and education isn't the goal, then take it out of the colleges and make it the minor league. It's sickening how much money college coaches make.

Perfect example of a media blackout.

(82,383 posts)TIME is an American magazine. To sell it abroad, especially in Asia, to the English speaking people there - it's going to be certain self selected people, not people in general, as it is here.
Sports is a bigger deal in other countries, too. Partisanship gets way worse than it does in the U.S. It's just those aren't the people reading foreign political magazines.

(12,647 posts)Viewing these covers, a question must be asked: do these moments of marketing (through a choice in covers) reveal more about Americans, or about the state of American journalism?
I fear the answer.
