Are Syrian Troops Demoralized by Those Photos?

Our press self-censored during the Iraq War. We had embedded reporters who gave reports about the heroism of our troops. The only controversial photos I remember from the war were taken by the soldiers themselves, not by our press. The U.S. government reviewed a lot of the reports from Iraq before any were published. I just wonder if we should show the Syrians the same consideration.

The number of people killed by our troops in Iraq varies according to different sources, but most say that we killed at least 100,000. How many of those were children? How many were entire families? I don't remember any pictures of dead kids like the ones from Syria, but who's to say similar situations didn't happen in Iraq? If reporters would have been allowed in some areas and took pictures, who knows how many dead children's faces we would have seen. But our government told our reporters that pictures of the dead were bad for morale. They wouldn't even allow pictures of the returning caskets from Iraq.

Maybe our press shouldn't have published those photos from Syria. They can't be good for morale to the soldiers, and I'd really hate for Americans to be hypocrites about this. Next thing you know, we'll have reporters taking pictures of our victims. Then we might have someone bombing Washington in order to teach us a lesson.

Not most. They blame the US-supported al Qaeda terrorists. David__77 Sep 2013 #1
Who'd a thought on 9/11 that we'd be such pals with Al Qaeda today? LuvNewcastle Sep 2013 #2

I guess they're our special friends now that Britain has dropped out.
