never applied for a job I didn't get. In those days, if you liked your job and the company liked you, you were there for as long as you liked.

I got a 10% raise each year, excellent reviews and the company knew my name and even my family. We were one big, happy family. The company was into the space program and took pride in what we produced and pride with every shot into outer space. It was a great time to work.

Eventually, it was bought by a major corporation and we became a number, raises were immediately lowered to a ceiling of 3% and morale went through the floor. It was just a matter of a few years and the company was moved south for cheap labor near the Mexican border and within a couple years, it was closed.
