(94,481 posts)...because you didn't affect the debate at all; you got your email address into the database for the Alan Grayson campaign (take a look at the page: "Paid for by the Committee to Elect Alan Grayson" . This is what's known in political circles as a "butterfly net": a way to capture names of sympathetic supporters for future use (who would think Grayson would be a politician?).
If you really care about this issue, you're going have to do it the hard way; close your web browser and WRITE AN ACTUAL LETTER OR EMAIL to your elected officials explaining why you're opposed IN YOUR OWN WORDS.

N.B. Grayson's online petition does offer a text box for signatories to add their own comments.
Hope you enjoy being in the 9-10% of Americans who support this bullshit.

(3,891 posts)They were faxed in under an hour. I offered the opinion that it would be foolish, and asinine to authorize a strike FWIW.
Why do you think we are such idiots that we are unable to read and comprehend this information without your denigrating comments? Twice today I've had to point out what I did say because the warmongers aren't bothering to read what is actually written. I haven't had to do that for those who oppose the war, only those running around trying to browbeat the rest of us into supporting the asinine idea of humanitarian missile attacks.
Now, apparently you object to Representative Grayson getting names of potential supporters. Why? Are you afraid that if we all unite behind ideals that it will harm the RW Lite Democrats that are the power in DC?
I think we are affecting the debate. I think the fact that we all are rushing about to try and give those who oppose this illegal action as much support as possible may well turn the vote in our favor.
I think that is what really is upsetting you, that the public at large are at best indifferent, and at worst absolutely opposed to military action in Syria.
