Mystery of flag from iconic 9/11 photo that went missing the night after the attacks

and has never been seen again.

The flag that three weary New York City firefighters hoisted above the wreckage of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 became an instant icon when a photo capturing the moment was published around the world and turned it into a symbol of the nation's resilience after the shocking attacks.

A new documentary reveals that flag disappeared the night of September 11 and has never been seen again.

For 12 years, it was thought that the flag was removed from its makeshift flag pole at Ground Zero and appeared at a New York Yankees game before being flown atop the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt as it launched airstrikes on the Taliban in Afghanistan.

However, 'The Flag,' a CNN documentary set to air at 9pm on Wednesday, claims that the real Stars and Stripes from that memorable 9/11 photo has vanished - and has never been seen again in public since that tragic day.

flag was worthy of a documentary about its disappearance; this sort of 'investigation' is meant to divert us from all the real stuff that SHOULD be documented (fake evidence to get us into war, etc.) into the sort of feel-good, emotion-drenched, knee-jerk symbolism about some damn flag.

Now I really won't be able to sleep nights. Imagine if CNN produced a special on the lying which put us into "The Iraq" or the fact that, about 13 shots were fired from a gun which held 9 at most when RFK was assassinated. Or how the Gulf if Tonkin incident the second night never occurred and why they named a ship after the gentleman who was outraged that the lie was perpetrated to start a war. This man Stockdale wound up as a POW, a war hero, and a nominee for VP with Perot. An exceedingly complex story with more twists than Breaking Bad. These could use 90 minutes but I guarantee you you'll never see these on air.

documentary production who has the connections to get it done. He had never heard of the nefarious neo-con scheme, and, after doing some research, concluded that a documentary on the subject would be a total waste of time because no media outlet would go there. 1st amendment my ass.
