Why did the MIC instruct Obama to seek Congressional authorization for an attack?
For days I've been reading dozens of posts castigating him as a pawn of the MIC going so far as to "channel Bush and Cheney."
So why did his secret bosses order him to go this route? I can't keep track of this puppet show.

1. Even a tool of the MIC has to obey the constitution
I'm not making that claim about Obama, simply pointing out the fallacy in your post.

12. No SCOTUS has ever ruled that a limited strike constitutes a war
that would require going to Congress for approval.
That's the fallacy here. |

3. If it is approved by Congress, and goes badly, then the MIC
was just following orders.
I believe the Congressional vote will mostly be given with an eye to political expediency and profit. |

8. Really?
Where have you been for the past week?
DU has been awash in accusations that Obama is just like Bush/Cheney and that he's completely in the thrall of the MIC. I'm just trying to figure out why the omnipotent machinery of the MIC allowed Obama to detour the eager run-up to war. |

11. LOL Sad but true
I try to avoid the sarcasm smiley at all costs, but I'm often reminded that even the most seemingly obvious over-the-top sarcasm can be indistinguishable from the background noise of "normal" conversation.

7. Because if Obama wants to bomb Syria he wants
to have as many members of Congress on board. That way, if the whole thing blows up (pardon the pun) down the road, he won't be the only one taking the blame, there would be enough to go around.

9. Because the President doesn't really want to bomb Syria
He is looking for a way out of the box. Putting the problem to Congress was an excellent political maneuver.

14. Here's my theory
They really don't want a government shutdown, it interferes with making profits. If you can get Congress to go along with the President on this, then he becomes a "wartime leader", and it's more likely that he gets a budget he can sign.
On the other hand, it makes him expend time and political capital that he needs in order to get a budget resolution and debt ceiling increase, thus ruining the chance for either. Should he lose the vote, he will be seen as weak going into those negotiations, and he'll have to give up more to the Rethugs to keep the government functioning financially. Oh, wait, I think I just stumbled into the truth there, but I'm not sure. I've never been good at following puppet shows myself. |

18. I wish I could unrec idiotic racist shit like this
and yes, I said RACIST.
Because Bush WAS the MIC, but you're claiming a black man who has the same job ANSWERS TO the mic. Either there IS NO MIC, or Obama is the HEAD of the MIC, and those are your two choices, fucking like it or fucking not. To claim the POTUS is a puppet of some bullshit "MIC" is either your way of dealing with your disappointment that he hasn't dismantled the Pentagon, or it's a reflection of your own racism. |
