Republicans do love sex.
Top 10 Conservative Sex Scandals
Why am I making these lists? Is it for sheer sensationalism? No. First, I must admit it is a little fun poking a sharp stick at the Cons. But primarily, and more to the point, I believe the party that feels it has the right to legislate how people can live their lives, the party that claims to represent family values, the party that shamelessly romances the religious vote should be held accountable for saying one thing, but doing another. It might surprise you to know that, as a godless liberal, every church Ive ever been in advocates practicing what you preach. You know, the whole trying to pick the speck from anothers eye, letting he who is without sin cast the first stone, and all that?
10. Ken Calvert
California Republican Congressman Kenneth Calvert was once called the Champion of the Christian Coalition, but that doesnt stop him from personally benefiting from earmarks he adds to House bills. His real estate investments have a tendency to jump in value after pork barrel projects he brings to the state are introduced. But that isnt our concern here. Today, wed like to speak to the his arrest after he was caught receiving oral services from a prostitute in Corona, California in 1993. Calvert who has apparently never seen an episode of COPs, unwisely tried to flee the scene, but his beefiness prevented his escape. Im not sure how this fits with his record of family values voting, but he blamed it on depression. (I know quick hummer from a cheap hooker always perks me up when Im in a bad mood.) And it didnt stop him from jumping on the Impeach Bill Clinton bandwagon either. However, those payments to ladies of the evening evidently did prevent him from paying his court-ordered alimony to his ex-wife. His most recent Christian Coalition rating was 89%. Why does he have a rating from the Christian Coalition? Because he is still a United States Congressman.
9. Matthew Glavin
The former president and CEO of the radically right Southeastern Legal Foundation Matthew Glavin used to (and may still) enjoy cruising down to his local national park and exposing his junk to other men and then pleasuring himself. In fact, he did it not once, but twice (1996 and 2000) in front of an undercover federal agent who was there because the park was a known hangout for other such men who held similar interests as Glavin. Once, he even attempted to fondle his arresting officer. None of this would be remarkable except that Glavin and his organization doggedly went on the attack against President Clinton for his sexual improprieties, argued to overturn Atlantas domestic partnership benefits and fiercely fought to uphold the Boy Scouts of Americas right to discriminate against gays. Matt resigned from his position after his second arrest.

I realize that there have been some sex scandals on our side as well, but we are not the party who touts "family values".
