Obama: Snowden has been charged with three felonies and should come to US to face charges

Last edited Wed Aug 14, 2013, 11:36 AM - Edit history (1)

RT ?@RT_com

Obama: #Snowden has been charged with three felonies and should come to US to face charges http://on.rt.com/l2av3v

“So the fact is that Mr. Snowden has been charged with three felonies,” added Obama. “If in fact he believes that what he did was right, then like every American citizen he can come here, appear before a court with a lawyer and make his case. If the concern was that somehow this was the only way to get this information out to the public, I signed an executive order well before Mr. Snowden leaked this information that provided whistleblower protection to the intelligence community for the first time. So there were other avenues available for someone whose conscious was stirred.”

Obama also said "Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this administration"

but it has taken Snowden to actually FORCE any tiny amount of this out of Obama, along with felony charges. It's illegal to reveal illegal spying upon US citizens? Fuck the surveillance state and all who defend it. The US doesn't consider waterboarding, rendition, and solitary confinement to be torture. Neither does it regard indefinite detention with neither trial nor representation to be so (UNCONSTITUTIONAL but there it is: section 1021 of the NDAA, twice signed by Obama and defended in court by his lawyers).

So they can stuff Snowden in a box in some foreign country and waterboard him for the rest of his life and call it perfectly legal.

Seriously, FUCK the surveillance state. It must be annihilated utterly. WHERE'S MY CONSTITUTION!?

PS: Want to prosecute some people who are really, actually guilty? Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, Rice, Wolfowitz...No, THEY get to walk.

Infinite

Also, they can lie about it to us at will:

It is legal for the government to lie to your face.

Okay if Snowden has been charged and should face those charges, why have the bankers not been charged?

What of the violations of the Constitution this surveillance program(s) has created? Why has no one been investigated and charged?

NDI Presenter. Look them up. Warrantless. All-pervasive. Against AMERICANS.

The government LIES. Get it. Obama is a shill for the plutonomy and surveillance state. Get it. The Constitution is going away. Get it. Contractors are springing up just like Halliburton and Custer Battles in Iraq to slurp up the $1 trillion a year surveillance state budget...and private contractors are amongst those who see our data. Get it. The NDAA 2014 section 1061 provides for an entirely new arm of the surveillance state to specifically analyze data and metadata. It grows and we are losing our freedom and our tax dollars and our principle of democracy.

Shoving one's head in the sand does not make the truth change or go away.

Odd how however you should bring up the 78RPM platform, because it is higher fidelity than 45 and 33RPM. 33RPM was developed in order to present longer recordings. Although the vintage tech (capture and reproduction) was low-bandwidth, the 78 platform is capable of producing exceptional results for obvious physics-related reasons:

"In theory - no, fact - the 78 speed is more conducive to audiophile listening to begin with. Big fat grooves spinning fast in thick roomy vinyl should be the winning combination. Kind of how the 12" 45s got happening in the clubs. Lots of bass goes in and out, along with the highs."

http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=150557

A turntable stylus must be wiggled back and forth by the platter grooves in order to generate bass. The wider the area for this movement, the better the bass. 33s pack grooves in more tightly = less room for bass. And the same principle of magnetic tape speeds may also apply: more domains past the heads at higher speeds = more information storage = more information stored.

You are as much in error about Snowden as in audio. Only your qualifier of "worn out" makes any difference and it is inapplicable.

With Snowden participating via Skype? That way his life would not be in danger but he would have a chance to defend himself against the accusations. I know, probably a ridiculous suggestion.

You may wish to hide your disgust a little better if you choose to remain on this website.

As a leftist I can certainly hurl some legitimate criticisms of both this administration and especially of Imperialism in general. But the spying on Americans started in earnest with GWB and his lapdog Cheney. I don't agree with the Patriot Act or the continued surveillance, it needs to end. But to say this president is a "disaster" smacks of someone who is very critical of democrats and it makes me wonder why you are even posting on this site. The democrats are doing well with civil rights issues, they are at least attempting to address the issues with health care, and on a daily basis things like the continued unemployment insurance keep folks from starving. No this party is not perfect but at present time this is what we've got to work with and yes they are better than the alternative major party (whether we can do better overall with a different economic system is something I'd love to discuss but I have a feeling you'd not be interested in that).

He is an absolute disaster for the democratic party in that many who are able to see will NOT be voting democratic or even voting in the next election lest they simply elect another plutonomy shill who talks about Hope and Change. Won't get fooled again. And running to defend such a problem doesn't make anyone look any smarter or especially deserving of alliance and support. Note that I voted for him. Then he fucked me and the rest of the country.

Please pay attention people. This is about as serious as it gets.

I believe it was Switzerland who wanted the US to send back someone they too wanted to face the music while the US granted that person asylum rapidly followed by full US Citizenship.

Looks like karma in action to me Pres Obama just happens to be the lucky recipient.

The whole Snowden gov spying thing would be much more amusing if it were not so f---ed up.
