Pat Robertson: We Need To Put The Bankers Who Lied To Americans In Jail

Wow!

--

Today, televangelist and long time right-wing icon Pat Robertson addressed the banking crisis on his television show, The 700 Club. Referencing how Iceland dealt with its own economic crisis — it jailed many of the bankers who broke laws and deceived the nation’s people — Robertson praised the European nation and said that we need to deal with the crimes of the financial sector here in the United States the same way. “[Iceland is] putting people in jail,” Robertson said. “They’re going after bankers there. The people said, ‘Those banks were rippin’ us off. We don’t like what they did. They brought out country to ruin. Now Iceland suddenly is turning around. Their GDP is growing. They look like a big success story. Isn’t that amazing?”

“We can start putting some of those bankers in jail,” Robertson preached. “There were all kinds of shady dealings during that financial crisis. So many people were lying….I’m not for putting people in jail…but here’s an opportunity for the people who want to enforce laws to enforce that one. There must be some laws against lying in documents!” Watch Robertson:

so you've got company down here.

I think it's the first time I've ever agreed with anything out of that man's mouth. He must've continued to take a financial bath thanks to some bank's financial advisor.

just the other day when Dick Cheney came out in favor of marriage equality in Maryland and urged GOP representatives and senators to vote in favor of it, I was almost beside myself realizing that he and I agreed on something. Take a few deep breathes and have a glass or three of wine and the feeling will pass.

robertson cares about robertson. Always has; always will.

The enemy of my enemy is NOT now, never has been, never will be, my ally.

Fuck robertson.

Excuse me if you think the language is 'rough'. I've been dealing with his ilk since I was a teen. Fuck him!

I wish that he may, through all eternity, experience what he has wished for me and mine for all eternity.

- hardly a liberal - in fact he was typical southern segregationist Democrat - but nonetheless like many of that sort - he still had certain populist streak

I would say that you find elements of that same populist streak in Pat
