Assange and Greenwald and neither heroes or villains
They are in effect "publishers".
They didn't sign any security agreements and they didn't leak anything.
They published material that others leaked and those who leaked it may or may not have broken the law.
If Assange and Greenwald had not published the material they received then they would have been published elsewhere, by newspapers, other media and the internet.
Assange has made some significant errors in not editing what he releases, and he has agreed to that point to some degree.
If Greenwald and Assange are advising Snowden on his strategy and tactics then Snowden is free to listen and accept or not accept but in the end he will be accountable for the actions he took, not Greenwald or Assange.
The big issues before us are still the same: creating greater economic justice, universal single payer health care, taking urgent steps to get our ecosystem onto a sustainable green basis, bringing complete equality to all in all states, and bringing 11 million undocumented exploited workers out of the shadows and protecting their civil and political rights.
When I look at those issues I don't see either GG or Assange as being either allies or enemies, in my opinion they simply aren't that important, and I don't see much evidence that they support the broader agenda that most DUers support.
