Slice of life - Geez I love my little town.

Out for a twilight walk. Passing the local deli / sandwich shop, happened upon a string quintet. Four guitars and a stand up base. Sitting around on the patio, having a beer or two, musicians' Monday night off. Bantering back and forth. And playing Django Reinhardt tunes.

Note to self - Remember to stop and smell the roses.

Have you ever heard of Bireli Lagrene? Back in the 1980s, I went to a little music college and a couple of the guitar students befriended him at some club in NYC (he was around 17 or 18 yrs old back then) and he came out to our school with a bassist and put on a little concert for the whole school. He was amazing! He made his first albums when he was just a little kid and he sounded just like Django.

You might enjoy this recent video of him.
