it needs to be raised to a living level. Yes, that will likely create a new round of inflation and the 1% will not like it. However, it's the one thing that will rescue this country.

The minimum wage was a "thrifty" living wage for a family of four with one breadwinner until the 1970s, when it was allowed to lag far behind the inflation rate. It was allowed to lag into starvation territory for a single worker.
