Is there anything more tediously predictable and just plain fucking boring than ...

those individuals who can't wait to rush to a post and proclaim at the top of their lungs HOW VERY LITTLE THEY CARE about the topic of the post? It appears to be an almost pathological need to shout, "Look at me, I am the hippest of the hip!"

How predictable. People rushing in to denounce those who laugh at you for thinking something trivial and irrelevant to human existence is "newsworthy".

You are doing the same thing they are, just taking another team. In the end, its not important. Its all just unimportant distracting fodder for the masses, with distracting fake fights (including the one your just crafted)

I happen to agree that it is a realatively trivial matter. So much so that unlike some I could mention (ahem) I wasn't compelled to be the first poster in response, and to follow that up with multiple posts trumpeting my absolute lack of caring about the subject matter.
Logic Fail.

Who are posting about how trivial it is.

Both matters are relatively trivial. Why is your chosen cause more important than the people you criticize? Why is your response less predictable?

"all just unimportant distracting fodder for the masses...."

Quite often, happy news is, rather than a distraction, a conspiracy, or even a psy-ops by men in black helicopters, is simply that-- happy news.

However, I do realize many people cannot abide good news, whether in the form of a childbirth, or simply a congratulatory post, and feel compelled to trivialize it through the lenses of their own colorful melodramas.

Sure, if you love the royals, it makes you happy. If you don't give a fuck, you don't give a fuck, and likely, the happy masses eating up the fodder just look ridiculous.

..since I was old enough to read about the Revolutionary War. What was it about? King George III and his absolute decrees.

Neither have I cared that much about Popes since I have been able to study the connection between wars and religion and since the Pope is the symbol of one of the largest religious groups on earth.

I do not believe in glorifying class distinctions between royalty and commoners. It is at the heart of the matter, totally undemocratic. I would agree it is a great distraction.

The "How dare you care about ___? Don't you know/care about ___?!? Stupid people" attitudes do get tedious. Most of us can multitask, can spare a smile for a bit of happy, if not earth shattering, news and still be aware of the problems we as a society and world are facing. Allow people their small joys. Life's tough enough.
