Why listen to what Tavis Smiley or Firedog Lake have to say about Obama's speech? FUCK THEM!!

Let's hear what the Martin family has to say:

Martin's parents: Obama speech a 'beautiful tribute'

The parents of Trayvon Martin applauded President Obama's surprise discussion of their son, his death, and race relations in America as "a beautiful tribute" in a statement released Friday.

"We are deeply honored and moved that President Obama took the time to speak publicly and at length about our son, Trayvon," Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin said in the statement. "The president’s comments give us great strength at this time. We are thankful for President Obama’s and Michelle’s prayers, and we ask for your prayers as well as we continue to move forward."

Martin's parents went on to say that they were touched by the president saying he empathized with their son.

"What touches people is that our son, Trayvon Benjamin Martin, could have been their son," they said. "President Obama sees himself in Trayvon and identifies with him. This is a beautiful tribute to our boy."

Like I said, FUCK Tavis Smiley and Firedog Lake.

The Martin family reaction is what counts and they appreciated his speech very much.

If your own opinions and thinking can't stand in the face of opposition maybe it's inaccurate or wrong. I am not swayed to be against the President by Tavis Smiley or even Harry Belefonte. I respect their right to their own opinions. I simply disagree with MOST of what they say about the President. I do agree with them on some points. And i ignore from them what is obviously personal animosity toward the President. Remember, they were both Hillary supporters and worshipers of Bill Clinton during the 2008 elections.

Melissa Harris-Perry compares Tavis Smiley to Tuskegee syphilis study's black nurse

It is no secret that there has been some very “bad blood” flowing between, on one side, Dr. Harris-Perry, and on the other, Tavis Smiley and Princeton Professor Dr. Cornel West. Indeed, I have written about their ongoing feud in the past. The attention has mainly been focused on Drs. West and Harris-Perry. Today, however, Dr. Harris-Perry exponentially ratcheted up her critique of Smiley by directly comparing his role in the Wells Fargo bank’s now defunct “wealth building” program to nurse Rivers’ function during the TSE.

It's that 'if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.'

Some have made a profession of refusing solutions, tearing them all down as 'not good enough.'.

So they get mad when they see something doing the work they can't or won't do; they cry foul and try to stop it.

For those who see there are many problems and that most people are not profiting by them, they want the resolved and then ready themselves for the next task. This is sad, sad stuff.

caring if the patient ever gets cured for the money. I don't know if the people that she's speaking of really knew what was going on. Perhaps we want to believe there was no malice in that one person. But the rest was regimes doing experiments on POWs, but with a smiling face.

That little adventure in, take your pick, eugenics or genocide, that depends on the perspective, was one of the most depraved things we studied in HS history class.

They watched those men die horrible deaths and pass the disease around. It's like AA's have been POWs in the place of their birth.

As someone said, this is a white problem, we have to get through to the people who can't accept. Find all the solutions, try them out, keep listening.

Despite still having trouble in South Africa, one of the most remarkable thing was the process of Reconcillation by Mandela and Tutu. The colonists in a way, did not deserve such a gift from those they'd wronged.

At this point, it is on the white community to fix this, to reach out, to change minds. If we want a future for our country, we are going to have to do our part.

Thanks for all these details, Cha. I don't tweet, the brevity and the system of it seem so limiting. Most of them I've read don't make a lot of sense, but these tweets were condensed and got right to the point!

Attorney General Eric Holder at the NAACP

Published on Jul 16, 2013

Attorney General Eric Holder addresses the 104th Annual NAACP Convention in Orlando, Florida on 07/16/13 and discusses the Trayvon Martin verdict.

The Stand in the Schoolhouse Door

When Alabama Gov. George Wallace positioned himself defiantly at the entrance to a University of Alabama gymnasium, he created a moment and phrase that still echoes half a century later.

His "Stand in the Schoolhouse Door" was an attempt to keep African-Americans out of the state's flagship university in Tuscaloosa. The politician, who had vowed "Segregation now, Segregation tomorrow, Segregation forever," provided one of the most dramatic moments of the 1960s when he tried to block two students from enrolling at the University of Alabama...

The two students who confronted Wallace, Vivian Malone Jones and James Hood, arrived at the university's Foster Auditorium on the morning of June 11, 1963, to register for classes. They were escorted by U.S. deputy Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach with the support of the Alabama National Guard, which had been federalized that day by President Kennedy...

In another surprising twist, her younger sister married an attorney, named Eric Holder, who went on to become the first African-American Attorney General of the United States. Holder, who attended the dedication ceremony honoring his late sister-in-law, said nothing to reporters that day, knowing, it seems, that her achievement helped lead to his decades later. But happy endings were hardly assured after the confrontation at Foster Auditorium. The next day, civil rights activist Medgar Evers was murdered in Jackson, Miss., and many (including President Kennedy and his brother, then-Attorney General Robert Kennedy), feared violence might spread across the South...

More and a video at the link:

http://civilrightstravel.com/tuscaloosa.html

Vivian Malone Jones

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivian_Malone_Jones

Eric Holder has worked on many issues important to progressives. He supports the view of the 2nd Amendment that has existed among liberals since FDR. That earned him many enemies and the bogus Fast and Furious charges by Darryl Issa.

A clear look at the total man reveals more about him than the media disinformation about him. As shown above, Holder does not crave the spotlight, but keeps working. He has been working hard for Americans:

Fuck him. You can always tell which one the "Stephen" character is by which one ordinary African Americans scorn the most. Tavis and Cornel are doing the best "Stephen" impressions of anyone, while pointing fingers elsewhere. Funny how the African American community isn't buying their bullshit one bit.

It's only a small group of people that keep dragging out these guys, as if they prove their claims to non-bias. Really, it's all about scoring anti-Obama points. For some reason they think they get a double score if criticism comes from an African American.

Kind of like the right wing does with the odd black or gay Republican out there. Same bullshit tactic.

He can do anything. He and the German guy were the movie. And I was so proud, in a perverse way, that the butler was the brains behind the whole plantation. The black man. That movie crushed so many stereotypes in very, very important ways.

I've gotten sick and tired of people making nasty insinuations about Obama working for the white man and all that entails. The same people never once question the fact that the one or two loons they dig up like Cornel West and Travis Smiley are also working for the white man. Ordinary African Americans for the most part think what those two say about Obama is utter crap. And unless I'm to believe that all those African Americans are stupid (which I don't and which would be racist) I'll go with their opinion instead of what some wacky woo woo online rag tells me.

Anyway, that's what got me going on the Stephen-the-Butler theme tonight. And God bless Samuel L. Jackson. And Tarrantino for making that movie. I'd love to have a discussion group about it.

I used to like to listen to Travis Smiley but in the last few years he's become very strident and I find myself turning off the radio whenever he comes on. He's entitled to an opinion, but I don't think he has been providing good support for his views in recent years.

I'm glad he has a voice, and he's certainly welcome to his own opinion. But, I'd like to see him present better arguments to back it up. Right now, I just get tired of what I hear from him.

50. "Tavis Smiley Made A Fool Out of Himself by Bashing Obama’s Trayvon Martin Remarks"
Mon Jul 22, 2013, 02:06 AM
Jul 2013
If your read the transcript of Smiley’s remarks, you can see why he embarrassed himself. He never criticized what the president said about the death of Trayvon Martin. Instead, he pulled out his usual Obama bashing remarks. The president isn’t doing enough. The president is leading from behind. The president isn’t trying hard enough. Smiley’s main criticism of leading from behind came straight from the Republican Party.

theGrio knocked down Smiley’s main point that Obama was pushed into making his remarks, “An administration source on Friday told theGrio that the president watched the verdict, along with millions of Americans, last Saturday, and by Thursday, following intense conversations with members of his family, and with friends, Obama decided that he wanted to speak. The official told theGrio on background that Obama called a meeting of his senior staff late Thursday and told them he wanted to make a statement, but that he didn’t want to give a scripted speech, or even warn the press.” (Just like Republicans, Smiley is painting a picture of Obama that doesn’t really exist in order to portray himself as the hero.)

Meet The Press booked Tavis Smiley because of his Kool-Aid tweet in response to the president’s remarks on Trayvon Martin. Smiley seems to have a personal grudge against Obama, and his criticisms revealed the weakness of his argument. There are legitimate reasons to criticize President Obama. For instance, it can be argued that he hasn’t said enough on the issues of poverty and African-American unemployment but, bashing him for the sake of getting on national television was an embarrassment to the entire discussion of race in this country.

What I've seen is distrust. And the bottom line is that I trust the consensus of my very savvy African American friends and the community. Look it.... GWB just about killed this country. Some still think that the mess he made can be cleaned up in a day. It can't. Some are impatient with the speed of the recovery. Some would like to see PO charge in and put his foot down. He's not that kind of President. He's a different President in a much different time. Maybe we will get another FDR in the future, but right now, we have what we have. The detractors need to get a grip, yes.

Personally, I am proud that PO came out and addressed the situation. We all need to be thankful that our country is not in blazes over that unjust verdict in Sanford, Fl. And I guarantee everyone, if PO was not the President, it WOULD BE.. Even the detractors would have to agree with that.

And now, we must await the results of the Justice Department's investigation. And that gawd-awful Koch Bros/ALEC/Corporate sponsored SYG law must be thrown out in each and every state that has adopted it.

And of course Occupiers know all about NYPD and Ray Kelly. Add that Kelly works for Bloomberg, a Wall Street billionaire, and add that to Obama and his nomination of legendary foe of worker's rights Penny Pritzker, and you've got a 1%-a-palooza. Now with added racism and unConstitutionality. But I know Obama is more than empty words: he'll rush right out and overturn all "Stand your ground" rulings and legislation and disband ALEC and the NRA who are behind it. Right soon, coming right up.

Those who are capable of perceiving the actions of another versus their words have little to nothing to gain from what the democratic party currently has to offer. And in all fairness to the party, Obama is certainly no democrat.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she-the-people/wp/2013/07/18/would-obama-consider-ray-kelly-for-homeland-security-amid-stop-and-frisk-controversy/

New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly would be “well-qualified” to run the Department of Homeland Security, Obama said in an interview with Univision’s affiliate in the New York/New Jersey area. He hasn’t actually named Kelly as his choice to replace outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, who is leaving to head the University of California system.

Was putting such a strong endorsement out there a first step toward seeing how Kelly’s name is received, or was it a case of the president being polite when being put on the spot? Obama said the commissioner “might be very happy where he is.” If Kelly isn’t, though, Obama said he’d want to know about it. “I think Ray Kelly is one of the best there is,” Obama said.

Yes, racist, unConstitutional Ray Kelly. So much for Obama being serious about racism and the Constitution. LOOK AT THEIR ACTIONS, NOT THEIR WORDS.
