Feb. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum says President Barack Obama is beholden to "radical environmentalists" and has "a world view that elevates the earth above man."
Santorum, who has emerged as the main challenger to former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in the Republican race, sought over the weekend to explain his statement that Obama practices "a different theology" that is "not a theology based on the Bible."
Santorum said on the CBS "Face the Nation" program yesterday that he wasn't questioning Obama's Christian faith in claiming the president subscribes to a "phony theology," the phrase he used in a speech to Tea Party activists in Ohio.
"I was talking about the radical environmentalists," Santorum said. "That's why I was talking about energy. This idea that man is here to serve the earth, as opposed to husband its resources and being good stewards of the earth, and I think that is a phony ideal."

(8,853 posts)...on Face the Nation yesterday. If anyone anywhere is unclear about the definition of a "strawman" argument, they should be directed to this clip. NO ONE anywhere has ever said anything about man being here "to serve the earth", certainly not anyone in the Obama administration. He pulled this nonsense right out of his ass.

(2,198 posts)As long as they can keep the masses focused on the election of a President, the less thought (critical thinking) will be given to the elected officials at the Congressional, state, and local levels. But these people are the ones who really have the power to control the national agenda. We can always get the President we want and who may really have great ideas and want to do something positive for the nation, but, as we see the President will only be as strong as the weak links supporting his or her agenda at the state and local levels and most especially in the US Congress. Thus, those in control of the media cabal keep all eyes on Presidential elections, and in the case of our current President, all eyes are forced to focus on the intolerance, stupidity, hate, and hypocrisy of his opponents.

We can't have a president that is so obsessed with his own particular religion that he can't respect the rights of others who don't share his religion or don't practice any religion.
