1. When white people go thru this its the news
When black people go they this its just the cost of keeping the privileged safe.

2. When black people go through this, they get shot
I can't even imagine a scenario in which a black person can point a gun at an armored cop and not wind up dead, even if the victim has good reason to doubt that the intruder is a cop.

4. yeah be thankful
just because police bust in to your home without a warrant you are going to get all upset? wtf do you think you are?
Goldsberry wasn't arrested or shot despite pointing a gun at a cop, so Wiggins said, “She sure shouldn't be going to the press.” |

22. People who call cops "pigs" need to chill out.
The world is a big place, and there is a lot of time. If there is a thuggish, hyper-aggressive cop, call and complain about him or her. Call him or her a pig, and most people will think you are the pig. Too much emoting, not enough thinking through stunts the mind.

You don't hear many stories about hostage-taking rapists who demand that their victims keep a tidy kitchen.

14. Or maybe the cops told her to act naturally so that she'd confuse her assailant
Hell, maybe they told her to go to the press with a crazy story to make it seem like they'd already caught the rapist, just so that they could draw out the real rapist.
How far are you willing to go with this speculation? |

16. im not speculating im responding 2 your statement and criminals tell victims to act naturally around
cops im also not interested in monday morning quarterbacking this situation nor am i interested in any sort of verbal sparring excpt to say that it would be a different story if the rapist were there

Other than that, yeah.

23. She should win, but just doing some googling around...
There are a couple other cases like this unsettled in the works.
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/family-sues-feds-agents-raid-prompted-mistaken-identity-article-1.359868 http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/South-Florida-Woman-Shot-5-Times-by-US-Marshals-Sues-Them-For-10-Million-170794526.html I couldn't find any suits the U.S. Marshals lost, except a discrimination suit, which is a different thing altogether. |

18. Well, it is DU. All cops, christians, and gun owners are the same
We judge the many by the few (but only in those cases is it OK)
I was on the jury and voted to leave this OP because it is no different than what I hear day in and out against other groups. Sadly, do the same for certain other groups and folks get upset then. Funny how we abandon our principles the second we can 'profit' from them. |

28. Hogwash. There are hundreds of thousands of cops who handle millions of tough situations day in and
out. Most, as with people in all professions, do their jobs well.
If I wanted I could say we have a "serious" problem with doctoring, and store clerking, and business managing, and on and on and on as in every profession there are a few "bad apples" and whatever kind of mistakes or unfortunate situations or whatever. |

27. Personally speaking
I think more that a few LEOs watch a bit too much TV.
Why do people who arrive in overwhelming numbers; with a massive advantage in weapons; protective equipment, transportation, communication, intelligence, planning, and surprise; have to spray a room with heavy firepower? Who do you think you face? Is it possible that you might be the cause of the step up in the perceived level of criminal resistance? Remember it's "all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law". The people on the other side of strange doors aren't even defendants yet. Do not overwhelming suppress Resistance until actual resistance is met. |
