Yesterday Richard Cohen wrote this:

In New York City, blacks make up a quarter of the population, yet they represent 78 percent of all shooting suspects -- almost all of them young men. We know them from the nightly news.
Those statistics represent the justification for New York City's controversial stop-and-frisk program, which amounts to racial profiling writ large. After all, if young black males are your shooters, then it ought to be young black males whom the police stop and frisk.

Still, common sense and common decency, not to mention the law, insist on other variables such as suspicious behavior. Even still, race is a factor, without a doubt. It would be senseless for the police to be stopping Danish tourists in Times Square just to make the statistics look good.

I wish I had a solution to this problem. If I were a young black male and were stopped just on account of my appearance, I would feel violated. If the police are abusing their authority and using race as the only reason, that has got to stop. But if they ignore race, then they are fools and ought to go into another line of work.

Are committing the same crimes as blacks? All we fucking do is single out dark skinned people for this unequal treatment by law enforcement. If you only focus on and arrest people of one color, the statistics will be skewed in that direction. Did this Cohen get any kind of basic education before he was hired to write about stuff like this?

I could get higher crime stats for white people over black or brown people if I were to only profile, arrest and imprison white people. Then i could say the same shit as Cohen. Doesn't this occur to him?

How about this - for one year, profile whites in NYC just like the blacks, ie whatever they do that is "suspicious", if they are white they will get the cop treatment before a black person doing the same thing. And of course, law enforcement funds are not unlimited, and the crim justice legal system is jammed to the gills, so those resources are limited. So stopping and arresting all these whites will get you high numbers of whites due to only trolling whites, and less time willl be spent on black or brown people, who will suddenly appear to be models of lawmand order compared to those miscreant whites.

Tell me the stats in a years time. Will most of the crime have been committed by whites, simply because they are the main focus? Yes.

One might ask Mr. Cohen if he has given much study to the issue of crime, the criminal justice system and incarceration rates. I would guess he has a cursory knowledge at best and this column is proof of that. His clinging to the rationale that "stop & frisk" is a necessity to prevent crime while wholly ignoring additional/alternative avenues to reduce crime among African-Americans is shameful given his perch in our modern media.

He is a coward because, as mentioned above, it appears he gives very little attention to the crimes of Wall Street in his columns.

The bigots have ants in their pants about the change in demographics in this country. They (white bigots) are filled with fear at the thought of being in the minority in this country. They fear this, because they know how, for centuries, they have treated minorities. They are afraid that the new majority (of color) will treat them the same as they treated those of color for all those years. They are doing everything they can to demonize everyone of color, not to mention how they are trying to tamp down women of ALL colors.

The bigots fear this change that's coming so much that they have come up with all kinds of ways to try to slow their demise. Like the "Stand Your Ground" (license to kill ) Law. Like gutting the Voting Rights Act. Like the gutting of a woman's right to choose. Like throwing little kids out of Head Start, and gutting the Meals on Wheels program for the elderly. Like trying to abolish Food Stamps. Like doing their level best to gut the Dept of Education, and abolish Social Security and Medicare.

But how many of us think they might have pushed the envelope a little too far this time? I do.

45. I believe it's the case that criminal activity of the street type correlates to poverty, not

skin color. Since more African Americans and Latinos are poor per capita than their Caucasian counterparts, it may appear that crime correlates to skin color.

The best way to reduce crime is to raise the income of the poor and legalize street drugs. People who have a decent living have no need to steal. Everyone who is willing to work hard should be rewarded with a living income that provides decent housing, healthy food, and the modern trappings that most of us enjoy. Income inequality is the biggest problem our society faces.

And the white-collar thieves on Wall Street do a lot more economic harm than some guy who rips off a Quickie Mart for $20,
