10 hardest working countries
Where in the world do workers toil the most each year? The United States is high on the list, but a few other countries work even harder.

The four-day work week
Average annual hours: 2,317
Average annual wages: $9,885
In Mexico, workers average 45 hours a week, the most of any industrialized nation. They work about 519 hours more than the typical American worker each year, only to earn less than a fifth of the pay.
When the OECD ranks industrialized nations by education and work-life balance, Mexico comes out on the bottom in both cases. Only about a third of adults -- ages 25 to 64 -- have earned the equivalent of a high school diploma.
There's also a huge gender gap in the job market. Whereas 78% of men have jobs, only about 43% of adult women work for pay.

(14,732 posts)many Mexican nationals work for me and never cease to be amazed at how hard-working and tenacious they are. It can be the nastiest, meanest type of work and I have never seen them work at anything but 100%, sometimes more. It's a shame that their economic situation at home is so dire that they can be exploited when they come here.

(3,888 posts)as measured by number of hours worked per week. The US works slightly over 40 hours per week on average.
We also average just over $20,000 per year on that schedule.
There is another list, one can access when done looking at the ten hardest working countries, and that is who works least hours. They are all European and while working many less hours, they have paid vacation, health care, and other benefits along with making twice as much money, on average, as those of us toiling in the US.
Our lifestyles are a lot more like Mexicans than like those in industrialized countries.
Pretty cool for the best country on earth.
