33. As an aside, I can only imagine he refused medical treatment because he didn't want to get

beat up a second time that day... by the health care industry that would have probably cost him hundreds if not a thousand dollars to take care of him. So sad; why should anyone have to think twice about getting medical care, especially after a mugging!

I'm surprised at the attention the story's getting. Knowing the area, what I would normally expect to see is that the man was dead. The fact that he isn't, reads to me as there was some degree of restraint on the part of the attackers. It's a very rough area.

I'm not excusing it, just saying for that area worse things are not unusual.

(I remember when it used to be different, but four decades of constant crime influx along the I-95 corridor have taken a toll on the city and a lot of the surrounding areas too.)
