I didn't know much about the Zimmerman case..

But since I retired and have time now, I have watched every minute of the trial. The thing that I can't get past is Zimmerman getting out of the truck. I do believe he profiled Trayvon, and I believe he had contempt for Trayvon as one of "them."

I don't get the talking heads who are so down on the prosecution. I think they did a good job. The defense, to me, was nothing but a lot of opinions, and they did not convince me of anything. And as usual. O'Mara is being condescending with this boring closing argument. Bernie was passionate, and you can bet Guy will be. I don't think O'Mara believes his client....I think the prosecutors deeply believe their case.

If Zimmerman had kept his butt in his truck, the picture that I will never get out of my mind of someone's child lying dead in the cold and rain wouldn't be there. That is the bottom line, and I vote guilty.

Not negligence, but deliberate and race driven vigilante behavior.

He should have just stayed in his truck and waited for the police. That is the bottom line.

4. I think that is exactly why the defense is telling the jury to put aside common sense....

...it's all they have to counter this one act Zimmie chose to do that led to the death of a child.

7. That was a big hole in the defense case for me...

They had very little to say about him getting out of the truck. Zimmerman's action in getting out of the truck led to the death of a child. I don't care who threw the first punch. There would have been no punches and no gunshots if he had stayed put.

5. It takes a series of presumptions in favor of Zimmerman.

One has to presume that Zimmerman was within his rights to track Trayvon, and presume that Trayvon attacked Zim.

What I find disturbing is the crazy length of these closing arguments, though I suppose they're shorter than the OJ trial.

except when he's trying to appeal to the jurors as a teenage son/daughter - "really!?!!!" Lost count of how many times he's used that but it's coming across as lame, imho.

10. I'll bet the jury is fighting to stay awake and catching 1/10 of the verbiage, at best. (nt)

3. Those that claim Zimmie was acting to protect his life

is simply making up shit. Trying to confuse and mess with the issue, is all they have. There is a sense of trying to justify armed vigilantism that seems like a back sliding in social behaviours, rather that becoming more evolved.

6. His "self defense" is like the MENENDEZ bros claiming orphanhood

Same situation, the perpetrator/instigator of the events then claims to be the victim. Z dismounted the vehicle, followed/stalked, PROVOKED (would not TM be reacting in self-defense?!1).

So (I Googled, couldn't pinpoint) somebody in the MENENDEZ trials floated leniency on the basis of the poor boys being ORPHANS. Uh, they created their orphanhood. Same thing with Z.
