Flotus video--Have you seen this??? ((((crying)))

http://thehill.com/video/administration/211371-michelle-obama-gives-tourists-a-white-house-surprise

Someone posted the video of First Lady Michelle Obama surprising White House visitors--who had no idea that they would meet the First Lady that day. The FLOTUS just showed up and these tourists were allowed to speak with her, shake her hand, talk with her a bit and even meet Bo!

I have to admit, I initially clicked on the video to see Bo!

I sat there watching the video and watching the stream of people meet Michelle. Soon, the stream of people were all African American women from the same group. One by one--they hugged Michelle and cried.

Because of the camera angle, you could see the look on each of their faces.

You can see so much emotion. I won't pretend to know what each of these African American women were feeling--but many of them burst out in tears when they met Michelle. Nearly all of them thanked her. I imagine Michelle represents many things to them, including civil-rights progress.

Their tears and the their faces showed pride, joy, relief, pain. Many of these women were senior citizens, who each probably have their own incredible stories. I imagine that seeing Michelle Obama in person allowed them to release past hurts and pain--as Michelle is a real, living example of victory for our entire country and for all African American people.

I remember the night President Obama was elected. My husband and I both cried. It was one of the few times I've actually seen my husband crying. We voted for Obama because of his policies, but we both knew how historical it was that our country had elected its first African American president. And that's why we were crying.

I am not African American. I am white. I live in a state that is 98 percent white, so I don't often get to hear or see, first person--what Michelle Obama and President Obama mean to African Americans. I feel like this video showed me, first hand.

This video--and the reactions of the African American people in this video--is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen!

I am totally blown away with joy right now! There are so many reasons to be stressed out right now, when it comes to politics. They country is so divided and there are many things that are not as they should be. However, this video illustrates so many things that are right with this country.

i am sitting here watching this and i can't stop crying. i know exactly what those women feel...they are my mother, my aunt, my sister, my cousins. "you're beautiful," "thank you," "we love you." "i am so proud of you."

2. It was on the television the other night--I think Mrs. O is a complete natural.

She really does have the "First Lady" thing down.

I feel sorry for whoever follows her--it's like trying to follow Jackie Kennedy or Eleanor Roosevelt. No way to "measure up."

The only way around that kind of competiton is if the next First Lady is a First Gentleman! Then the paradigm is reset...!

And I like your idea of the next First Lady being a First Gentleman!

We toured the White House last September & saw Mrs. O & Bo out in the garden. I was ecstatic just to be able to see them from afar.

And yes, seeing those black ladies response was extremely touching.

14. That's a good point...

If you listen to right-wing radio they have so much oozing bitterness for Michelle Obama and it's
so misguided and over the top. I can understand not agreeing with President's Obama's policies. That's just
fair comment.

But to attack Michelle Obama, when she has done nothing wrong--just shows how full of hatred some people are.

Michelle Obama has been a wonderful ambassador for our country. She's sincere, decent, articulate and she's
got a terrific personality. So warm and sweet!

she is the antithesis of everything they are: mean-spirited, hateful, corrupt, insincere, repressive imbeciles. her warmth, compassion, and intelligence is a refreshing as is the president's. and that more than anything drives the winguts insane. none of their candidates, or their wives, inspire the kind of passion and hope that the obamas' do.

38. I saw this down in Texas as well -

I live in an area that is multi-cultural, not too far from Houston's medical center which draws personnel from many areas. When I participated in the caucus there was one elderly African American who was especially proud of participating and commented that he "never thought (he'd) see the day" while shaking his head and carefully printing his name. I'm sure I'll feel the same if we are ever able to elect a woman into the position.

Great video. I always like watching Michelle - she seems very down to earth.

She asks what kind of group they are and somewhat abashedly someone says "AA" and then someone says more clearly "Alcoholics Anlnymous." That's one thing that makes her comments about strength and support and keeping on so lovely. She's cheering them on. And they're all acting like she's long lost family. How lucky we are to have her.

That just warmed my heart.

And she is sincere as a human; that is so clear in this video.

Can you think of one other FLOTUS displaying such
elegance and grace for that much time?

I can't, not in my lifetime.

that aside from the sheer delight of being there... the ripple effect of such a meeting will be outstanding... Between the music industry types and fan contest winners, there were close to two hundred people at the after-party. But for at least two hours, Joe greeted every single one of them personally until only the roadies and we media types were left -- and he never stopped smiling.
