For my son and I it would be $427 a month with a $2,000 deductible and $6,400 max out of pocket for the year. So I have to pay $5124 a year in premiums and $2,000 before the coverage starts kicking in beyond routine checkups? (didn't add in all the different copays, could potentially be more up to the $6,400 a year limit) So potentially I'm out of pocket $11,524 for a year before they actually cover everything, I guess that's not bad if something major happens.

We were just calculating our policy, for just my wife and me. Similar. It's almost like, what's the point? Except for that we're both just over 50. It's like being a car with 120,000 miles on it. Sure, it runs great today, but next week you could be looking at a blown head gasket.

It still doesn't make it right. That is why single-payer is the only way to go. Get the for-profit insurance industry and mega-hospitals out of the equation and we'll all save thousands of dollars in premiums alone.

I have lower co-pays and a lower annual out-of-pocket cap. My current premiums are around $500 a month so slightly more expensive but my employer pays the bulk of the premium.

I would guess the Gold or Platinum are in the $500-700 a month range.
