In a democracy, the people watch the government.

In a tyranny, the government watches the people.

They elected him President.

Maybe what he's worried about is Eddie's information making it harder for him to secure the nation that elected him President.

Eddie you and Bradley violated the law. Under the rule of law, that means you end up in court. Yes we are "afraid" of people who break the law. That's why we made laws to restrain them.

Beautifully written.

[font size=3]In the end, the Obama Administration is not afraid of whistle blowers like me, Bradley Manning or Thomas Drake. We are stateless, imprisoned, or powerless.
No. The Obama Administration is afraid of YOU. It is afraid of an informed, angry public demanding the constitutional government it was promised---
and it should be.

You know, I didn't pay much attention to Snowden at first.
I wouldn't have given him much thought until "they" made this about HIM instead of the 4th Amendment and Secret Government Overreach.
Thanks to their efforts, Snowden the Person has emerged,
and I like this guy, even if he keeps boxes in his garage.
For an IT guy, he has some good Communication and Critical Thinking Skills.

Thanks, Edward Snowden...wherever you are.

Like everybody else before him.

He broke the law.

Sad, but anyone who breaks laws must face a judge at some point.

If the law is not good, challenge it.

The same goes about climate change: nothing will be changed except for It Will Become Worse. The same goes about money in politics: nothing will be changed except for...

The 'Hope And Change' slogan did not mean a 100% Hope and 100% Change of Everything That Is Wrong, but maybe just 50% (many important issues).

Of course it's not enough, but that's what we'll get instead of 0% (or -100% with mcWor$e or Rmoney), and the SCOTUS Nominees.

As long as private money will not be banned from politics, do not expect any complete change.

His stated goal was to expose the fact that our government was Spying on Americans without oversight and compiling this data into a huge database,
and to raise public awareness to this Government Overreach.

I have to give him a 10 out of 10.
The real Schadenfreude comes from the realization that it is the OVER REACTION of those who wish to Protect the Government that have helped Snowden succeed,
and their desperate attempts to smear him that have catapulted him to the status of an international HERO.
