One of world's oldest cats mistakenly put down by Swiss vet



Elderly Miez Maz was picked up by a passer-by after escaping from his home in Tagerwilen, Switzerland.

According to reports in the Swiss town, he had been living contentedly in a local train station where employees were feeding him and taking care of him.

However, a local vet is said to have mistaken him for a stray and removed him to be put to sleep - causing outrage among locals and station staff.

There is no Guinness World Records entry for the world's oldest cat - but last January Welshman Bill Thomas put forward his cat Lucy, 39, as a contender for the oldest living moggy.

He looks like a male calico a rare cat. I am sure he owned the station and all the people who took care of him.
