Poll: Democratic edge for 2014 / Plurality want one party in WH, Congress.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-05-01/voters-in-poll-want-1-party-running-white-house-congress.html http://livewirhttp://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/poll-plurality-wants-one-party-to-control-whitee.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/poll-plurality-wants-one-party-to-control-white From TPM: A national poll from Quinnipiac University released Wednesday suggested that Americans have had their fill of divided government. In what might be a hopeful (albeit early) sign for a Democratic Party eager to win back control of the House of Representatives next year, the poll showed that 48 percent of voters nationwide would like one party to control both houses of Congress and the White House. Forty-three percent said they would prefer Congress and the president to be from two different parties. A wide majority of Democrats — 64 percent — said they would prefer one-party control, while half of Republicans would rather see split-control. The poll also found that Democrats claim a slight edge over Republicans heading into next year's Congressional races. Eighteen months out from the 2014 midterms, 41 percent of voters said they would vote for a Democrat for Congress compared with 37 percent who said they would vote for a Republican.

1. The problem is, people don't vote generic ballot
In a parliamentary democracy you vote for a party ticket; in our system, you vote for a specific representative and senator. And there's a very strong tendency for people to say "throw all the bums out, except for mine."

3. Exactly
Not to mention the new congressional boundaries make it harder to take back seats.
We probably won't seriously contest every seat anyway. |

6. But this is framing things 1980 style. The Age of 80-20 will be resurrected.

9. When the 20%extremists on both sides are neutralized I won't say LOL, they will be ignored totally
and people will say WTFTSL and GRTR
the toxic hate is only a small percentage of the nation 15 on the right 5 on the left and 80 just want to get things done. BTW-when the public is 80-20, remember, the senate only has to be 50-50 w/democratic vice president (like Joe Biden or Janet Napolitano). Because the toxic won't be there anymore. (or 60-40 in the senate.) the 50-50 is only a made up bullsheet number. but don't tell anyone. when it happens it will be that much sweeter. And that was the plan from day one. |

2. working for an 80-20 America and neutralize/render the 20%extremes on both ends meaningless
Then like in all past times, congress will pass legislation
We don't even need the individuals to be democratic if the 20%extremes can be neutralized to render them utterly, utterly meaningless so they can blather their hate, without affecting anything. |

5. It has happened on all major legislation before Reagan. No reason it won't happen again
Of course, the ones who $$$lovethe50-50$$$ don't want that to happen.
But America does. 80-20 does not mean split in senate/house. Those numbers are meaningless when Americans work together to in positives move forward instead of in negative hate blather about instant gratification and telling people not to do this that. LBJ told the Dixiecrats to f-k off and there votes were rendered meaningless, as were the john Birch Society. |

7. Everyone hates Congress....
But most think their guy isn't the problem.
So not much changes. It's an odd dynamic in play. |

The Reeps will have plenty of opportunities to shoot themselves
in multiple feet over the next several months. |
