Boston manhunt a victory for cooperation - not tyranny

Well, that was predictable.

In the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing manhunt the paranoid wing of the nation’s chattering class will not stop freaking out about how it was handled.

During the pursuit of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, most of us saw intense local, state and federal police work to capture a bad guy before he could slip away. Former congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul, however, saw something very different.

“The Boston bombing provided the opportunity for the government to turn what should have been a police investigation into a military-style occupation of an American city,” Paul wrote in an article posted April 29 at LewRockwell.com. “This unprecedented move should frighten us as much or more than the attack itself.”

who are gonna love this article!

It was a "Victory for Cooperation" and no matter how much whine is poured and poutraged.. it's not going to change the reality.

Afterall the police lifted the shut down shortly before the brother was captured. They had not been able to find him. He was found because a guy had to go outside to smoke because his wife didn't want him smoking in the house. He found the brother in his back yard and called the police.

in real time.

What we don’t need is to turn ourselves inside out worrying about sinister plots and the motives of our law-enforcement professionals. We’re Americans. This is a grown-up country. We can do better than that.

Edit: Clarification

It seems most of these articles and comments are from people who do not live in Boston.

I haven't yet seen any Bostonians saying the actions that day were those of a police state. And Bostonians are NOT a cowering, fearful group of people...they're not sheep.

But it wasn’t. There was no martial law. There were no guns pointed at citizens with the goal of keeping them in line. What we saw at work in Boston wasn’t tyranny. It was the Yankee community spirit at work.

People in New England have strong connections to their home towns.

From the people of Boston, thank you! It was 102 hours, from the bombs going off to the capture! Damn fine work!

I have no clue who to send it to at the Boston Globe, maybe as a letter to the editor?

Thank you, Lucky.
