Obama: Planned Parenthood Is ‘Not Going Anywhere’

President Obama on Friday at a Planned Parenthood gala in Washington said the women's health organization is "not going anywhere," despite GOP-led efforts to defund it.

"It's not going anywhere today, it's not going anywhere tomorrow," Obama said, according to a rush transcript. "As long as we've got a fight to make sure women have access to affordable, quality health care, and as long as we've got to fight to protect a woman's right to make her own choices about her own health, I want you to know that you've also got a President who's going to be right there, fighting every step of the way."

As a woman, I appreciate the response. He also fought for VAWA. A cause I hold dear. Anyone, everyone that has a woman in their lives should respect that.

Do you ever give him credit for anything?

help them. But he has given lots of speeches that for one reason or another he hasnt been able to follow thru.

I am glad to give him credit. But I work with the poor and homeless and see very little has been done to help them. I see friends and family losing homes and retirements. Now he wants to cut Social Security. And Wall Street continues their corrupt practices.

I hope he can help Planned Parenthood, but I will believe it when I see it.

"When politicians try to turn Planned Parenthood into a punching bag, they're not just talking about you," Obama said, becoming the first sitting president to address the abortion-rights group in person. "They're talking about the millions of women who you serve."
