The suspect in the stabbings of 15 people at Lone Star College said he was trying to go on killing spree but his knife blade broke, a fellow student told the Chronicle.
Minutes before the stabbing rampage, Demond Lago was arrested by Cy-Fair campus police on a trespassing offense. While he was waiting, police brought in the stabbings suspect and put him in the holding area with Lago.

good knives dont break like that
i would be willing to bet he had some cheap mass production steel with crappy tangwork
always buy good knives with full tangs and good rivetwork on the handles

(30,994 posts)I was just referring to a real Japanese knife maker. I have two of his knives - hunting/camping knives made from Aogami Super Steel - Both are extremely plain and the best knives I have ever owned.

(8,155 posts)A. It's impossible to read sarcasm when it is enveloped in horrific spelling and grammar.
B. This is not a funny topic. So even given the fact that you were being sarcastic, I fail to understand how what you said was appropriate at all.

(28,243 posts)If you've got almost 8300 posts accumulated at DU, you ought to know damn well how critical a visible sarcasm tag is when the subject is a mass casualty event. If you don't realize that, you're not responsible enough to be using sharp objects.

(1,922 posts)If the guy was planning on a cutting spree, why would he employ a shitty blade?
I never leave the house without a good serrated blade on my person.
Like you, knife quality really matters in our household, both kitchen and garden.

(43,155 posts)I'm hesitant to use the word glad because it must have been terrifying for anyone there and also because I do believe the reports said some of the injuries sustained were serious and that's always a cause for concern.
But I am "glad" that a gun wasn't involved because as bad as the story was, I'm pretty sure it would have been even much worse with a gun. In terms of legally accessible weapons, there is no more efficient killing machine to private citizens than a gun. None.

(38,187 posts)after some asshole finally shoots me. I do wonder why people are attacking schools this way. It's really messed up, no matter what weapon they use. It's depressing.

(5,477 posts)Then this would be a routine mass killing that we could all comfortably sweep under the rug.

(38,187 posts)I'd never stab anybody unless they attacked me and I absolutely had to. I just enjoy collecting my knives and using them in do-it-yourself projects around the house, ffs.
Why are all these assholes trying to attack lots of people like this in schools and other public places? They need to stop this shit, pronto. It is getting ridiculous.

That is what some here say about gun owners.
