It makes sense to have background checks on those who desire to purchase a gun. It is a proven fact criminals are acquiring weapons and through straw buyers. Gun folks can yell it is unlawful for straw buyers to do so but we know is happening. Fast and Furious is an example of this happening. Background checks are needed to prevent guns from going into hands where the person is unstable or a criminal.

universal checks should pass with ease. I think that is the only hangup.
