did anyone else catch Jeffrey Sachs on City Arts and Letters recently...?

Economist Jeffrey Sachs was interviewed on City Arts and Letters on October 11, 2011, and the interview was broadcast this week by my local public radio station. I only caught about 1/4 of the interview while driving home from work, so this morning I found the entire audio recording on Youtube.

It is awesome. The interview was ostensibly about his book The Price of Civilization, but he talks at length about the financial crisis, the need to tax the wealthy, how corporations avoid being taxed, and so on. His explanation of how large corporations use intellectual property rights and tax sheltered offshore bank accounts to write off all their profits will make your blood boil, and also make you wonder whether there's a lot more to the IP debate than SOPA.

Anyway, HIGHLY recommended listening. I'm also adding The Price of Civilization to my book list.
