Suddenly I feel extremely betrayed and have now lost most of my faith in our government, particularly the folks at 1600 PA Ave. In fact, I'm pretty pissed off at this point. All I have to say...

(8,421 posts)so they can make an informed choice. If these GMOs are so benign, what's the harm in labeling them?

(86,508 posts)But they don't want us to know that they are poisoning us and patenting nearly all foods, which means they will soon be making home gardening illegal, just you watch. It's their agenda and has been for some time, it also implies that if anything that is second generation of seeds or pollen that have drifted onto your property and they claim it, you're fucked and they will file law suits against you and ruin your life, which seems to be the plan...
also, I didn't see the other post about this when I posted this thread, probably more conversation about this there.

(3,596 posts)He is a corporatist. He loves him some corporations and the concentration of power and wealth. He likes to be associated with the 1% despite his public pronouncements.
I still prefer him to the other options but he is not concerned about your health or your welfare or you. He is concerned about those that have delivered him to his station in life.
Don't anyone believe he really cares about you. He does not. I wish the truth were different but it isn't.

...did, they need a good reality check.
The Monsanto bill is a perfect example of focusing on a Presidential veto FAIL

(146,284 posts)One Democratic Senator voted against it.
And President Obama's supposed to veto this entire continuing resolution that funds the federal government over food labels? I don't think so.

(146,284 posts)So, that's not even the issue. It's really confusing when people say things that aren't even in a bill. I'm not sure where the food labeling part came from.

(86,508 posts)Was ranting about the GMO labeling thing and was using that wording for their letter of protest found at the link, I used their headline for the OP headline.
Apparently the actual part of the Bill is Section 735, the Monsanto Protection Act in the short-term spending bill...
I am pissed that this kind of crap is slipped into must-pass legislation as riders that never see the light of day until the deed is done, and the fact that it is to protect Monsanto, produce pillager of the planet. I'm pretty burned out on the whole ball of gooey wax and am not sure I want to be an american anymore, it doesn't mean anything positive anymore and I have been ashamed of this country for more than the past decade, just can't get into it anymore. And for those who think I have no clue, whatever. I have discovered that the more you know about all this the more horrifying it is... and the more difficult it is to accept and live with.
RIP US of A as many of us once knew you and anticipated equality because of the promises that were made... but then, in hindsight, you never were very good at keeping any promises after all. Stick a fork in it.

After all of you people who feel so betrayed by Obama actually read through what she has written, please report back on who exactly betrayed us.
Thank you.

(86,508 posts)and it doesn't change what I think or feel about it. I'm still pissed and I've lost any hope of change for us because we're screwed until we change our government entirely and I don't see that happening either in my lifetime or before things get really ugly. Think it's bad now, just wait and see what's coming. This will not be temporary by the time the next must pass legislation emerges from that swillhole we used to think of as the halls of Congress.
