Is this a joke?: The builders of the Sen. Marco Rubio brand.

BY ALEX LEARY AND ADAM C. SMITH
TAMPA BAY TIMES
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Marco Rubio is on a breathless rise, a testament to his political skill and demographic appeal that last week saw him delivering the Republican State of the Union response and appearing on the cover of Time as “The Republican Savior.”

But behind the scenes is a relentless, methodical effort to build the Rubio brand, aided by a team of strategists and media handlers positioning the 41-year-old Floridian for an expected presidential run.

They include members of Rubio’s Senate staff and presidential campaign veterans who work for the political committee Rubio formed ostensibly to help elect other conservatives.

Instead the Reclaim America PAC has focused on consultants and building a national fundraising network. Last year, his PAC spent more than $1.7 million, with the vast majority going toward staff and fundraising, and about $110,000 going to other candidates, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

“It connotes a machine, someone who is grooming his image for a jump to higher position,” said the center’s executive director Sheila Krumholz.

The media likes to kiss his ass but he would be, in reality, an extremely flawed candidate with many skeletons in his closet. I suspect Romney realized this and that's why he didn't pick him as his running mate.

We saw this follow the '08 election...when the GOTB thought they could negate their "black problem" by selecting Mikie Steele as their party chairman. Ya see...they have a "colored fella"...so they must be able to relate to the "homies". Problem was when Steele actually tried to reach out, he was slapped down and eventually kicked out when he no longer served the party's purposes. Now they're seeing how far behind on the Hispanic vote they've fallen so they need someone who has a Spanish sounding name and figure if he can spew the talking points in Espanol that should fix that problem. Make Mucus the "savior" of the party...the Cuban who Mexicans will fall all over themselves for (if you know anything about Hispanic culture, you know that ain't about to happen).

For decades the rushpublicans have had these "leadership school"...one of the more "popular" is the one operated by sleezemaster Morton Blackwell...they look for minorities they can mold and then trot out in front of teevee cameras or run for public office. Call it rushpublican "affirmative action"...and it hasn't worked. If anything, these antics backfire as Hispanics, just like blacks and other groups who have been patronized to, won't be fooled with the bullshit...

Seems like every year they roll out another "savior"...the "new" face of the party. There was "Bobby" Jindall who fell on his face...then Eddie Munster Ryan and he's still a gift that keeps giving and how can we forget Mooselini or Alan West...the "new faces" that all have fallen flat.

Since he was elected to the Senate we were told that Mucus was a power to be reckoned with...

Now watch them glam onto Joe McCarthy Cruz...

who attempted to rip off the GOP with credit card usage of over a hundred grand for his personal expenses.

Plus he cannot erase his long time friendship with Rep. David Rivera with whom he owned a home in Tally, that is or was in foreclosure, during the time Rivera ran a competitor off the road .. literally ... to prevent them from mailing campaign flyers on time and was involved in the Ana Alliegro scandal. Google for details.
