Your basic classic red rose. A google search turned up pages and pages of florists using that name (and not to be confused with "Spirit of Freedom Rose" which is a pink one).

None of these places mention the derivation of the name (and I'm only going to invest so much time on a search of something I'm only mildly curious about), but I get the impression the name has a longer legacy than the jingo rename of pommes frites.
